Garmin Xero - Any Other Uses?

I know we're all shooters here. Having said that, I'm wondering if any of y'all have found any other "cool" things the Xero will track?

The reason I ask is that my kid is a decent baseball player, and he was hoping that the device could be utilized to measure various things; i.e. exit velocity, bat speed, throwing velocity, etc.

On Garmin's site, under specs, it reads: "TRACK OTHER PROJECTILES UP TO 5000 FPS"

One would assume that utilizing the arrow function, it may accurately record slower objects.

If it didn't work, I would guess it'd be more of a software issue, rather than a physical restraint of the device. It'd be neat if Garmin did updates for other uses.

Google didn't return anything with a Xero + baseball search.

"The device can measure projectile speeds from 100 fps to 5,000 fps for bullets, arrows, slugs, airsoft BBs, pellets and paintballs."

From a Garmin page

A 70 mph fastball is about 103fps.

Yup, I saw all that.

He's ~87 off the mound, and has gotten a bit over 100mph on exit velo.

I'm just wondering if it'll actually work with baseballs. I mean, it's supposed to be set-up close to the barrel in order for it to function correctly (from what I've read/seen).

I didn't know if thing worked like an actual radar gun, or not.

We'll attempt these things when my backorder is fulfilled; fingers crossed.

We need to stop doing this. They are finding issues now with over exposure to radiation and baseball players.

Really? This is the 1st I've heard of this.

From running radars???

Geesh. Thanks for the interesting info!

Actually most new cars already have "RADAR" systems.

Baseball radars are behind home plate pointing over the plate.
Right at all 3 people there.
Batter, catcher, and ump.
Batter comes up for a few pitches, catcher is there for many as is the ump.
What position did these cancer victims play?

Catchers are actually not immune and neither are Umps. Their have been a number of cases of them getting Brain cancer. Also they are doing studies that some artificial turfs might give off carcinogens. This is all a work in progress. But as we mostly know. They won't find out the truth and admit to anything until it is far too late.
