We use the Xero on the ground for sling position on a very low profile three legged tripod, maybe sits an 1-2" off the deck. Grass, concrete short or tallish grass it has yet to miss a shot.
I like to keep it 5" left or right of the barrel and closer to the muzzle as possible for my liking when possible. Off a bench it needs to be back a bit at one club when doing some load testing.
