Garmin missing shots

I had some missed shots last year but was on dirt mound that was unstable…back to flat ground and made it sure it was level moved a little closer and none missed since…but it looks like like that isn’t your situation …‍♂️

Not that I am aware of but possibly. Today I was shooting on some very hard packed ground and it missed 7 out of 35 shots
I've mounted my Garmin onto front rest post of my Seb, right side. Use the link below for the adapter. Always in the same place for every use.

I ,also, angle the chrono more to the muzzle end of the barrel. Looks like yours is pointed straight down range.

Hasn't miss a shot. Around 1200 rounds. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. This is pretty much exactly how I set it up every time. I’ve tried both sides of the rifle. The left and the right
Nice rig...
But as others are saying, that should work every time...
I too have never missed a shot with my Garmin nor anyone else that I have loaned it to...
Big mystery??? Is it possible that that shot marker setup is interfering with the Garmin?
Just guessing here but I know about electronic interference for electronic scales and perhaps that is a situation here for the Garmin.
Have you tried putting that Shot Marker device further away from the Garmin?
Perhaps at least 10-12 feet away.
If you get to an electronics store you can find meters that will measure a whole range of electromagnetic radiation and they don't cost very much for a basic model.
I have one that I used to check out my reloading bench/room and found that I had to move a FAX/wireless phone system away from my AutoTrickler as it was putting out interference.

Black line on top pointed at Target ? Should be kinda intersecting the bullet path. I think you're under the bullet path. Put something under it.
Mine has never missed a shot.
I have seen lots of the Garmin used and every one of them just sat on the ground or bench below the level of the barrel and never missed a shot...
Perhaps turning just slightly toward the barrel will help with the beam intersecting the bullet but in my experience over the past year, the Garmin is very forgiving about placement.
I even bought an aftermarket mini tripod that has a ball mount as I thought the chronograph would need to be adjusted to exact level or tilted up toward the muzzel when I am shooting off a mound and due to slope and grass density not always achievable with the fixed tripod that comes with the Garmin but that has not turned out to be any problem at all so now the ball mount tripod sits on the shelf as it did not fit in the pouch that I carry the Garmin and it's tripod in.
It was a solution for a problem that did not exist... {:~/

I thought the exact same thing about the shot marker at first… until yesterday morning I went out and did some 100yd testing and did not have the shot marker setup and it missed the shots. Getting it elevated off the ground did seem to work but let’s see

That’s basically what I hear from everybody which is why I have a hard time believing it’s a setup issue but I don’t know. I also have a hard time believing I got two bad units in a row so it’s a head scratcher for sure
Please don't take this wrong, if you are having the exact same issue with two different units the evidence would point back to you, mine has never missed a shot. Nothing is impossible and it could be the unit but highly unlikely. I wish you the best in finding the problem and please let us know what it is. EDIT: after looking at the photo I'd put it closer to the muzzle and raise it maybe 2-3" higher, would be worth a try. Again, good luck.

The only shots mine have missed were due to setting it up facing me, it missed that shot-duh. Or shooting rapid fire with the pistols and it could not keep up, just had to slow down a little bit. I have noticed slight velocity differences due to terrain/elevation of the Garmin relative to the ground in front of it. I noticed this when shooting the same loads at two different ranges and doing some more testing to find a way to be more consistent in the readings.

set up 5"X 5" up to 15" X15".
if really low to ground, reflections can cause multipath errors, especially for any rise in ground level out in front.
point toward target to reduce cosine error.
The box (or a brick) raises the beam and reduces ground reflections.

Heads up for Black Powder shooters.
Mine picks up wads for an 1858 pistol unless I go to 15 inches back.
Difference between 350fps and 850fps. :)

Shot Marker might interfere with Blutooth to phone but not with the 24 GHZ radar signal.
They warn about large targets giving false reflections out to about 20 yards.
Ground clutter can also give false reflections.
You get a return from a little bullet AND a return from ground or large obstructions.
Garmin gets confused with multiple returns.
If shooting at elevated targets a few degrees up or down you might get better accuracy aligning with bullet path (straight line out of muzzle).

I don’t take it wrong I feel the same way. I highly doubt I got two bad units in a row or even one bad one for that matter but like other people stated I thought it was almost impossible for them to miss shots as long as they’re somewhat setup the way they’re suppose to be
