Full Length Sizing 6BR Brass

I typically full length size new brass.....204, 223, 243, etc.etc....

Having just bought 200 pieces of Lapua 6BR cases, I'm curious whether I should do the same with them?

Once fired, I plan to use a Wilson neck die.

Always just neck sized the new brass.

George: In my experience, just once again "refreshed", eventually full length sizing will be required. Not only to push the shoulders back a few thousandths, but also to reduce the case head diameters.

Just took delivery on another new 6 BRX build, first five rounds chambered normally. Then with #6 I was not able to close the bolt & it locked up tight, round in the chamber, bolt all the way forward, but bolt handle could not be moved down to engage the bolt lugs.

Bolt handle had to be gently tapped open with a plastic headed 16 oz. mallet.

Case head diameters that chambered normally measured .471" with a Starrett micrometer. A fired case that had somewhat difficult bolt closing, but it did chamber, measured .4715". The case head diameter of the one that would not chamber & locked up the bolt measured .472". A difference of only .001" from chambering normally and not chambering at all. Another lesson learned. ps: How are you going to FL size with a Wilson neck die?

Depending on his chamber, he should manage fine with a Redding body die once it's time to bump shoulders(~4-5th cycle).
With reaching that point, he'll then need to bump shoulders every firing.
He can cover near the webs with the same body die, but his load/chamber will dictate any real sizing there.

I FL size everything everytime...I want uniformity

Full length size. Minimize shoulder bump and neck resizing. Get a non-bushing die for minimum run-out.
