As it turns out, our shipment of 10 more sets of bases for the sensors did not arrive on time so yesterdays match was shot old school. We did however set up one system so the shooters could test it out and after the match several shooters played a little. We will test it out in the coming weeks and post our results.

Dear Match Directors and Members
We have been hearing a lot of misinformation about Freedom Benchrest. While we tackle the logistics of including our new member clubs, and their contributions to Freedom, we would like to put out a statement clarifying our basic positions.
It is the intent of Freedom Benchrest to honor and respect the traditions and methods of all of our member Long Range Benchrest Clubs. As to be expected, when an established long range Club joins Freedom Benchrest, they bring with them a history of successful operation. In doing so we recognize that not all of our traditions and methods are the same at this time. We do not view this as a problem, but as a learning period that brings us more experience. As we combine our experiences, a club might identify a method that fits their needs in a better fashion. That will be a determination made by the Club and their management.
As many of us on the Freedom advisory committee have known, and been part of the structuring of Long Range SOY points for the IBS, there were many ways that a club could determine the winner of a match. As recently as 2023, The IBS had three completely different, approved methods of awarding SOY points according to the preferences of the individual member Long Range clubs.
What our experiences have proven to us is that each Club, needs to operate their range according to the needs of their Shooters. A match director is the best voice a Club has and that person’s thoughts and opinions should be heard and respected by any organization they choose to be part of. Freedom Benchrest has put in place a basic set of Rules for safety and consistent operations of the Company. We have sought to eliminate many of the obstacles contained in old Rule books that were stifling innovation, competition and advancement of the Long Range discipline. It is our intent to further the quest for the ultimate in precision and accuracy of Long Range Benchrest , while fostering an environment of good will and sportsmanship.
We further believe that the winner of a match, is still the winner of a match! If the match director chooses to shoot two or more targets to determine the winner, and all the competitors know this prior to the match, then the match is considered fair and recognized, (Freedom rules withstanding). If everyone knows the weight limit of the light gun is to be 17 or 22 lbs., at a certain member range, then they can take that into account before they travel to that range.
At Freedom Benchrest, we have a simple philosophy, “without our Ranges and Members, there is no Benchrest”! We do this for the fun of the game and are willing to give our time and effort. We believe our game is worth the commitment and want to pay it forward for new shooters and future generations. Please remember, most of our match directors, keep the ranges open to us, on a volunteer basis. If they didn’t care about the long range discipline as much as we do, where would we go to shoot? We want to recognize the shooters that have supported any Long Range organization and have spent hundreds of hours compiling data that comprises our Hall Of Fame on our website. We don’t have any illusions of grandeur, just a hope of a National Long Range Benchrest organization that we can all be a proud of.

Good morning,
The IBS shot one format from 2004 through 2015 to be fully transparent. But yes, the IBS as of 2016 allows each years committee the freedom to put in place each years SOY program however they choose, despite the bylaws calling for uniform competition with comparable results. Which from 2016 through 2023 was in fact three completely different methods as you posted, which I understood to be "experimental" for one year at the time. Tasked with that job this year, I inquired as to what was and wasn't allowed(knowing something that resembled 600 was popular), and was told whatever we write up is what it is and nothing could be done by the e board to stop it weather they like it or not. The only challenge we faced was to, out of respect, attempt to preserve the integrity of the LRM list. Hopefully our calculations do in fact do that, but of course we need to see it play out, and if necessary make adjustments in the future.
I personally took opposition to the multiple formats back then(apparently a mistake to get involved), as to me, it diluted "the game". But now, as i grow older and
I am a bit surprised, and disappointed, that you didn't keep 6 and 10 match aggs in the 1,000 yard program? As THAT IS the tradition of 1,000 yard and we have history back to the 60's to look back upon. Is the no points for records something that you figure will remain in place? Or is it more because you don't have any records established in the beginning years of freedom and will come later?
I like a lot of the rules you all came up with in the beginning, and look forward to a final draft to compare to what we do currently. Of course I still feel we could have done those things without splitting again, as I posted way back when.

I guess you have been misinformed on the 6 and 10 target aggs. The Freedom Team has put a lot of hours in to the Freedom Records Program and no records have been removed . As a matter of fact FREEDOM is recognizing more records than anyone else. I have attached the 1000 yard list so you can read it . Also, all of the Freedom Records can be found on the web Page at www.freedombenchrest.com

Yep, I am on the list some 20 pages behind @tom ...... I'm in the hunt Tom, give me about 2 decades and I will make up some ground!!!

Just saw the HOF list on the website, holy smoke was that a lot of work! I had a couple questions I hope to learn more about as you get a chance to catch your breath. I am assuming the yellow entry’s are the inaugural class into the Hall, and the red entry’s are current members of the HOF. Are the other colors just in blocks of 250 points or so? I’d also be interested in the knowing more about the conversation formula used to turn say, NBRSA HOF points into Freedom points.
