Free floating barrel

one $1.00 bill clearance should be fine. Go shoot it, works up some loads and then decide if you should work on it more.

When i float one you dont need a dollar bill to see if its got clearance. I put a lv taper into a 1.5” channel last nite. If you got one you have to check just shoot it a while and youll see shiny spots on your stock where it hits on every shot

I use a MDT Chassis and a Nest of Wrens could live in the Barrel Channel Clearance.
No chance of the barrel touching unless the Wrens come back.

This is the easiest way I have found to float a bbl. Start with the action screws loose and when it gets easy, simply tighten the action screws some more. If you are worried about scratching you barreView attachment 1161144 l (you won't, unless maybe a blued tube) simply put a layer of tape on the tube before you start. Simply saw your way up the channel.

Emery tape under the barrel works well, if the barrel fit is close pack the action up and sand away. Protect the metal surface from the rough back of the Emery tape, I used kitchen paper towel.
