Found a nice carbide shank boring bar...

I picked up this Grizzly boring bar. Min bore is .236. Will work great for boring muzzle brakes, pre boring chambers, boring a seater stem hole, etc. Figure this might be use for others that are looking for a small minimum bore boring bar that that has enough length to make it very useful! Every mini boring bar I find with a small min bore will only bore 2" deep or so. This one has some length to it!

Overall the bar is very nice quality. About the only inserts I can find for it are made by Mitsubishi and are only sold in packs of 10.

Should be a nice Little bar for thoses jobs. I have a few of the winda circle series f carbide bars that I use for the same jobs.

Nice little bar, if necessary Chuck, you could relieve the back side of the tip of the bar, and maybe get down far enough to do a .204. We end up doing that on smaller bars quite often at work, it helps get the coolant in and chips out as well.

Thanks for the tip, John. I actually had to do that on several occasions on some steel boring bars i have when they wouldn't fit, lol

I use circle bars made of solid carbide and they take a similar insert. You can cut a perfect crown with them.

I used it for the first time today and it works extremely well and versatile. I used it to cut a 25 degree cone and prebore a chamber. The finish it made was wonderful. Will use it to bore my brake and tuner brake next...pricey, but well worth it.
