Forum gangsters

I've not been on this site for nearly as long as most have. I find this forum very informative and very helpful to me thru most of the members experiences. I also hope anything I share has the same affect. Seems however there are a few guys here that just love criticizing and bashing others interests or preferences. Unfortunately I fed into it and threw a little bit back. It's not what I'm here for nor are 99% of the other members. In my early law enforcement career I worked inside a state prison dealing with convicts that run there mouths from behind cell doors. That was the only thing that kept them safe. We called them CELL GANGSTERS. These guys on the forum that run there mouths the same way belittling and talking smack to other members are the same guys I dealt with many years ago. Forum gangsters. Knowing they have safe haven from facing anybody here after running there ignorant mouths( on a laptop). Many times I read where these guys are calling out members like boxers do in a televised promotion of a future bout. We all know they won't ever want to see anybody in person. Forum Gangsters. Probably have zero experience in shooting other than what they've read or theoretical facts. No field experience. No weapons experience. Just dreamers wishing to fit in but can't so picking on the guys that have real life experience is easy from their living rooms. To these guys out there I say, find a hobby like knitting or pottery and get in touch with your real selves. Shameful ? Maybe. Much more honorable tho than being a Forum Gangster. If you resemble these facts, you know who you are. Man up and move on to a different forum that suits your style.

I have used the ignore button 2 times since using this site , yesterday or the day before , a someone new joined and had over 75 posts when he stumbled on a guy I was trying to help . I'm not tech savvy at all , but got very frustrated when his posts were just LAW . Within a few more of his non helpful remarks I used the ignore feature again . He broke the record , less than a day on this forum and he's now the 3rd on my list .
I understand everyone of us has an opinion , that's OK , it's the pigeon type of posts I could not take . Pigeon posts = dropping in an ongoing conversation and crapping all over everybody without adding ANY useful help .
Sorry for the rant . Gary

I wish I had your poise and self control. If I did, I wouldn't have had to post that opinion and just click ignore. One day I will learn from guys like you that there are alternatives to running MY mouth. Them guys always have bothered me. No useful input, just ignorant disrespectful comments. There are great experienced guys that have taught me alot since I've been in here. To those, they have earned my entire respect. You all know who you are as well. Thank you. Keep up the informative work.

Old saying, "When you get in a wrestling match with a pig, you both get dirty but the pig likes it"!:D

It gets tiring when all you see is nasty comments that have zero merit on the subject. I have made some comments in the past that I got dragged into and have refrained from getting involved anymore. You sir are correct and tell the truth. We should be encouraging rather than discouraging our fellow enthusiasts.

I'm pretty sure I know who your referring to, in less than a week he joined and made just under 200 posts, most of which were negative rude and pompous. I've never posted a ill toned post until he showed up and even then I kept it short and sweet. The ignore button is a marvelous tool, I have three on ignore and should use it as a first option. However I don't think there's anything wrong with letting someone know they are rude and obnoxious. That can be done in a civil way and in some cases it's not entirely the wrong road to take.

BTW I'm not counting the political posts, I was glad to see the Forum Administrators due away with those. We can still love our Country , just not start that endless mind numbing banter.

Well one particular individual prompted this impromptu response. Not really wanting to highlight any particular individual as I will do so thru a PM if necessary just to keep it legal as they say. I have tho read many very unnecessary comments and it addresses those as well that know who they are. When the wives wear the pants at home, it brings these guys to these forums to do what they lack at home, strappin on a set and hitting the keyboard.

Your op is how I got on this site. We had a disabled elder shoot a perfect score and one of the guys posted it with a picture of him at a bench shooting fclass. Some concerned citizen of the forum decided it was his duty to bash the post. This was pointless and I was beside myself when I heard about it. I made my first post under minimal restraint straightening out his ignorance and have been here ever since. Don't bash a handicap around me! Lol

Have been a member for 8 years, we lost a lot of really knowledgeable, helpful, good people, due to forum gangster. It's a shame
Maybe we can get the forum administrator to add a "Forum Gangster" button. Only difference is, when people hit the button, it will show that person having that designation. Same as ignore but they get labeled. Got my vote on it. Pretty much the same as pedophiles in society being identified by their status.

And what has this thread added to the forum?
Feel good feeling?
I think not.
No not at all. It's just an observation not meant to rattle anyone like yourself to thinking it's not needed here. Like many posts before it, it will fade away but with content that is factual as well as opinionated. If you don't identify with the description, don't be offended by it. It certainly wasn't meant to offend those that are here for the right reason. Isn't that what these threads are ?

I joined this forum hoping to increase my knowledge and maybe pass some of my limited experience to others. There is probably every level here, from people that have never fired a rifle but want to learn and get into the sport, to people that are professional and have a lifetime of experience and with varied backgrounds. Yet again, no one knows everything. Everyone has ideas and/or opinions, some good some bad, but that's no reason to disrespect them. Probably the best way to deal with someone that steps on your toes is to just ignore them completely. No need to get involved in an ongoing argument that you can't win because they won't listen anyway.

It's taken me wayyy too long to learn that my opinion isn't required in every conversation. And it's not my job in life to straighten out everybody who needs it.

It's amazing how much more a fella will actually HEAR, if you're not preoccupied with what you think you've gotta SAY. jd

That concept is not only wise, it is Biblically based! James Ch: 1 vs 19: "Wherefore, my beloved bretheren, let every man be swift to hear and slow to speak, and slow to wrath!"
