Forum gangsters

There are people who are confident in their knowledge and abilities and they don't feel the need to prove it. Then there are people who are not so knowledgeable or capable, and their only recourse is to try to pull others down to their level; because they just can't reach a higher level.
 
We as a group are savy enough to ignoir the so called "Key Board Commandos" we just need to do it and they will go away. Also reporting them helps.

Well known troll banned from practically everywhere. Used the "report" button and a few hours later, no more. Kudos to management.

This works both ways though. They WANT you to react. They WANT your attention, that is what gives them power. Just be the bigger man, hit "ignore", and move on.

You know why you can't win a wrestling match with a pig? You both get dirty and no matter what the pig likes it. ;)
 
It would help if everyone used their "OWN REAL NAME"..............
example.... in this thread only 2 of us have done so....
i.e...... nutt`n to hide behind...........
all these cute little names allow a person to say things they normally would not if their true identity was known.......
and for those who tout security issues.....

Amen, I know of several and one is a TOP tier machinist that I would lay a big stack of $$ on his ability vs anyone else. The other was an EXPERT at producing high grade hammer forged barrels. Both had enough of insults thrown at them by people with little to no knowledge. Neither ever come to this site which is a loss to good members. I looked at these posts and immediately knew that these folks had no experience or ability. If you don't know, it's not a crime. Just keep your opinion to yourself.
 
I must have an unusually thick skin; that and I must be a bit on the slow side. Mot of these gangsters have no affect on me. Their abrasive comments simply are ignored and I move on to the next issue. Being somewhat of a novice in the shooting sports I seldom offer words of advise even though I've been around sixty plus years. Shooting and reloading are hobbies I'm just getting back into after years of being overly involved with work and raising kids.

The gangsters that you speak of are often people who know no other manner in which to interact with others. They believe that confrontation and attacks are in essence a natural way to interact. As others have mentioned, they are pigs who like to get dirty. They believe they've won an argument if they've insulted a person to the extent get get put on their ignore list. Asking them to conform to social norms and guidelines is fruitless because they simply don't know how to act civilly. They are adversarial by nature, etiquette is an unknown element.

Just dreamers wishing to fit in but can't so picking on the guys that have real life experience is easy from their living rooms. To these guys out there I say, find a hobby like knitting or pottery and get in touch with your real selves. Shameful ? Maybe. Much more honorable tho than being a Forum Gangster. If you resemble these facts, you know who you are. Man up and move on to a different forum that suits your style.

I think you're off base here just a bit, at least with respect to the recently banned member that likely prompted your post.

That dude lives up on Alaska somewhere, and he's haunted internet shooting sites for at least the last ten years. Shooters who've been around 24hrcamp/ the Hide, etc. the last several years would know (Busheler) "Larry's" MO. Anyway, you're WAAAAAAAAY off base was to assume "Larry" doesn't have any shooting or hunting experience. In reality, "Larry" has been well known to shoot ALOT, and kill ALOT of critters up in Alaska. Or, wherever he's at now...

Please know, that is NOT a defense of "Larry". If you noticed, I was going back & forth with him, myself. Knew it was only a matter of time before admin would step in. They always do with "Larry", its been that way for as long as he's unleashed he!! on internet shooting sites, since...forever. Point it, by 'assuming' anything about him, you've played right into his hand...

That said, "Larry's" 'credentials' certainly DO NOT justify espousing dominance over other members.

But, in truth, some (high post count) members here like to 'throw their weight around', as if they're opinion automatically defaults to a level above another's. Just sayin', the 'gangster' phenomenon you described occurs in various forms, depending on how you look at things. Whether its "Larry's" unique 'rope-a dope' tactics, another's passive-aggressive postings, or somewhere in between.

Posting a 'blanket statement' doesn't do anyone any service.
Just ignore it. Or, hit the 'report'button, and let admin sort it out.

BTW John,
You're still welcomed to head out my way, some time in the future! I know snert moved several hours closer your way, and he's a heckuva good fella. Also, he can vouch that I'm the same @$$hole in person as I am on here :)
