For those who sort primers....

Ok so you just sorted a bunch of primers. I can't help but wonder what others are doing to store them?
Baby food glass jars?
Tiny Tupperware?
Back in the factory packaging?

How do you store them?

Thanks!!

There was a guy at my local range who transported his primers in a glass jar. Scared the $@!& out of me. He never had an incident and left the range due to dementia.

I put them back into the original packaging and wright the weight on the sleeve. It's pretty easy to get them back into the packaging. Then I store them with all the other primers residing in a controlled environment.

The weight difference in primers in the compound and not the cup or anvil.
In small cases, it has been equal to 26 fps difference between lightest and heaviest primers shot in the same case.

Your assuming the cup/anvil weights are consistent, and the priming compound is inconsistent that's a stretch. Also, you're assuming that your equipment is spot on and not being affected by voltage fluctuations in house current which can be + - 10v or more. Not sure what shooting sport that 26fps would have a noticeable impact. lotech summed it up, busy work. Nice talk, thanks.

No assumptions.

Just honest testing

That’s all.

I'm not disparaging your primer sorting process, but as "honest testing" goes, have you seen a difference in group size (multiple groups for confirmation), not at just at one hundred or two hundred yards, but at any distance? Thank you-

If you want to see the impact that 26fps has on a projectile, run a ballistic calculator with any cartridge and data set of your choice. Make note of bullet drop at various distances out to 1000 yds. Then run the exact same calculation again with the only change being an increase or decrease in velocity of 26fps and make note of bullet drop at the same distances out to 1000 yds. When comparing your notes, the impact of 26fps becomes very obvious at distance. Go ahead, don't sort primers, I'm always happy to compete with shooters who leave this element of consistency on the table :)
