FLORIDA AND EAST COAST IN HURRICANE PATH

Just looked at the weather a bit ago and looking like Florida and the East Coast will get wet and windy for the next few days. Was hoping we would escape it this season but not looking favorable. Hang in there guys and stay safe. Prayers for all in the path.

Funny you should mention this. Was reading recently about super storms and high tides inundating coastal areas. Left out is any mention about the effects of the relative positions of the moon and sun creating higher than normal tides. Mix that with an onshore wind and sea and you get a superstorm...not at all related to climate change.

Landfall at 7:45 am as a Cat 3 storm. Weakened from a Cat 4 earlier likely due to an eye wall replacement cycle.

Got ugly for a while yesterday around noon, couple of tornado warnings in my neighborhood but we got lucky again

Man, i don't know how these people do it. They have not even finished cleaning up after the last one.
I may live in Maine but IMO the weather is very mild compared to what many across this country go through. We get a "normal" snow storm and on the news they say its a catastrophic event when in reality its nothing but a little snow.

All weather reporting is sensationalized because it is cheap news for the broadcasters. Just like Chicken Little.

Until you go down to a place like the Fort Meyers area and see the destruction first hand. No doubt that 99% is as you say, but in cases like these, good reports and forecasts are needed .... It's no joke when it hits!

Never is good for coastal areas when a storm comes ashore during a incoming tide, near full moon makes it worse. But if you have lived there for a few years and are tuned in to nature, you know what's coming.

I know,I lived through many hurricanes. The hyperbole eventually leads to apathy, which is dangerous.

Absolutely, no joke about these things. Loss of life and millions in damages makes it a very serious matter for those affected.

Went through 3 in one hurricane season. out of power for almost 40 days total. Building codes have always been tougher on the east coast and after Andrew they went crazy over this way. The west coast is not near as tough on the codes and that will change, but the new codes do nothing for the houses already built. We in Plam Beach county and on the east coast were saved from weeks of clean up. We are praying for those in north FL.

Looks like she is making a track up the S C & N C coast. Lots of rain already with the worst of it still to come for us.
