FLORIDA AND EAST COAST IN HURRICANE PATH

And they say a BUNCH of Insurance Cos. pulled out of the Florida area.
Not sure how folks will deal with it but, hang in there!!
Prayers for your safety.

I know no more NEW homeowners policies will be written in California because of the fires.
So far not messing with the folks that have been insured for a long time, at least not yet.
They started to mess with me but shut up and went on about their business. Their scare tactics didn't work on me. I was laying for them. ;)
Is that an earth quake I just felt?

I live in a small house, I worked in the Town of Plam Beach on mansions for years and decided I didn't want to be a slave to a house. Two years ago we got a homeowners insurance bill for over $5000 and were told this year would be over $7000. We had no choice but to self-insure. $7000 to insure a 1200 sq foot house was insane. We have signed a contract for a standing seam 22 gage metal roof that will handle 170 mph winds. Money better spent in my opinion than my shingle roof blowing off and flooding my house and ruining every thing I own, only to be told how little insurance will actually cover. Only issue I have is the new roof ids 7 weeks out.

Metal is the way to go with roofs. Shingles may in some ways be more attractive but that don't out-way the gains from metal.

North Central Florida, 25 miles south of Live Oak.
I'm in Wyoming and my wife is back home back powering the house. Everything is in good shape around the 5 acres and house + doublewide we put on the property. Electric and Internet is out.
I built my house to Cat 5 codes, from living in Palm Beach County for most of my life and working on houses in Homestead after Andrew tore that area up.

I lived in a flood zone for 16 years with a river in the back yard, I have many times been surrounded by rushing water and huge logs being carried away. No Joy at all !! I would much prefer snow piling up Outside’ than have water gushing into the crawl space..
Best wishes to all and try to stay safe.
