Flattest 22cal to pin hole yotes and wolves

I shoot a 20x47L now with 55gr bergers. It "pin holes" in and out. You can barely find the exit hole. I get $100+ for our northern yotes ans several hundred for the timber wolves $200 for the small Bush wolves 100lb'ers. The 20x47L works great 55gr berger bullet are pretty much obsolete now.
Where are you from that you're still getting $100 per coyote? Here in Saskatchewan and Xanada for that matter, coyotes have really gone downhill price wise.

22-250 AI. all sorts of different brass. Dies from Redding. not custom.

will feed from MDT .308 mags after blown out!

12 twist for 50m to 55 gr bullets. 1-8 twist for 70-80 grain bullets

Just received a 22-6.5 PRC reamer, Zack has it. Gonna build two rifles, one for me and one for my brother. A bit overbore but that’s ok, should be fun and very flat.
What are you looking for speed? And what twist are you going to run?

I have no idea what the speed will be, gonna start out with 70 grain Barnes TSX, not sure a cup and core bullet will hold up in that rifle. Probably 1-8, I’m hoping Zack makes one too, it would be fun to compare notes.

Not nearly as extreme as the 220 redline that Fredo had so much fun with but still edgy. I’ll probably go back and read that thread again, lots of good info in it…..

The Berger 20 cal 55 grain isn't obsolete, it is just out of stock.

It is a limited production which is sold by Graf and Sons. It was in stock for many months and only recently sold out. It may take a while, but should come back around.

Actually I think it’s more like years. Seemed like everythime I went to buy another 1k, they were in stock going back to 2018/19 or so. Wasn’t until just recently that they went out of stock again. I can wait for the next batch, or retire my 20VT if they don’t come back when I run out of the couple thousand I have on my shelf.

A guy here is killing deer with the 6 Gibbs with the 55g Ballistic tips at 4400+ and the 70g Nosler ballistic tips at 4100+. He says they never take a step.

You're shooting the 55gr in a VT? What kind of velocity you get with em?

Caution, those top loads are HOT. 26 inch Hart barrel. You need to sort your brass by capacity and get it all uniform so that you don't have any surprises as you venture up.

I had a 25" 12 twist in 22/250 AI with zero freebore that I and a couple of Predator Calling Club Members shot with 60g Bergers at 3700+. Glory Be, this load opened up coyotes like a bomb went off in them, planting him on the spot. We had no patience for chasing down coyotes that had been knocked down, only to figure out a few minutes later that they were NOT dead.

ON a whim, I had a 14T, 22 PPC barrel that was 24" long, I had not shot the barrel in 20 years. A friend let me borrow a zero freebore 22-243 AI reamer. The 23" hart barrel, 14T has an accuracy node at 4000 fps with a 60g Sierra HP, shooting tiny bug holes....go figure. I have never killed anything with this barrel. Then I ordered another Hart, rem varmint contour, 14T, 26", yet to fire the barrel.

I want to try and shoot some hogs with the 60g Sierra as they are pretty tough.

Between 225 yds to 275 yards is where your cartridge and bullet selection start hurting your pride as the animals get knocked down and then run off, never to be seen again.

I had a Cooper built with a switch barrel 17 Ackley Hornet and 22 K hornet when I lived in Az. I had places were coyotes were plentiful and shots were not long. On my first trip out with the 17 Ackley hornet shooting 20g Bergers at 3550, I had 7 coytoes run into me in an old over grown irrigated field, I was sitting in the irrigation ditch with nothing buy my head and shoulders exposed. The first coyote was on a trot and I hit hiim in the slats at 10 yards, and the shot did not phase him. Another one was right behind the first, I hit him around 40 yard, he went tumbling, head over tail as he had a pretty good head of steam built up. He immediately got to his feet, and I swear, a grey hound could not run any faster. I found the second coyote about 110 yards away, the first one was never found.

I went back home, put the 22 K hornet barrel on the rifle where I had 50g Sierra lead tip blitz loaded, problem solved, coyotes flopped.

Now, the OP is wanting to shoot wolves, they maybe 300 yards or more, and they weigh 85-125 lbs or more. Some thinking on bullet construction that will expand and penetrate on these large animals is the very first thing I would contemplate. 77g Sierra tipped match kings would be my first choice, and there only a few cases that will drive it fast, 22-243 AI and the 22-6 Rem AI where both of these cases will push the 77s over 3550 in the 243 AI and the 22-6 Rem over 3650. A friend is shooting a 22/250 on the red line with a reamer design around Lapua brass, and he is pushing the 77's at 3450, but his barrel is 26".
