Weaver 36x40 T Series is an option. Can't go wrong with the March that's for sure.

Sorry, but I must disagree with some of the posts here. I shoot a lot of sanctioned RFBR, third in the nation for number of targets shot in ARA Outdoor UL last year. High power fixed scopes will screw you at times with mirage issues at 50yds/meters, indoors or outdoors. I had a Sightron 45X45 for awhile. Clarity was good, small adjustment clicks were good. Sold it because of no flexibility in power/focus on hot humid days when mirage messed up my target image. I bought the scope for weight reasons as I also shoot IR50/50 3-gun and there are weight restrictions there. I now only shoot variables because they handle mirage issues much better. If I were restricted to fixed power, it would be no more than 36X. I have also heard of the same issues from other shooters who shoot the well respected Leupold 45X Competition. Certain times big powered fixed scopes are going to do you wrong. May only be a few targets a month, or for those that don't shoot as many matches as I do, a few in a season, but how many targets are you willing to screw up because you can't turn your scope down?
I shoot NF 15-55X52 Competition and March X High Master 10-60X56 on heavy guns, and March 10-60X52 on 10.5lb rifles. Being able to turn down power is critical, whether indoors or outdoors. JME, not an opinion.

Mirage is there regardless of scope power.
It's still there but if the magnification is reduced when observing the target through a mirage the target may appear more clearly.
The observations made by Scott (doclu60) are sound.

Yep, it sure is, and if it is so bad you can't see the dot and scoring rings of the bull with your fixed high power scope (45X for example), what do you do then? Poke and hope?
At an indoor tournament a few years back the mirage was that bad. Several guys were shooting high powered fixed scopes. They lost. I turned my, at that time, Golden Eagle down to slightly over 20X. The dot on the bull still had a slight movement in the scope, but at least I could see it. I won that tournament and a big part of that win was target clarity in the scope, because I could turn it down.

I wasn't disagreeing my match rifles have variable power scopes. I think Tony Boyer "a fairly successful shooter" brought that point out one time if you can't see it it doesn't mean your aiming at the same spot cause you don't see it
You might consider strapping on a red dot to help find the target at high magnification. That way you are less likely to cross fire.
March is the only scope maker to offer a 48X.
What reticle are you using on you NF 15x55 and is it 1/8 th or 1/4 clicks? I've currently got a Weaver t36 target dot on my rimfire and will be using my Sightron S3 10x50 fch on my 30br both are 1/8th clicks but may be looking to upgrade one of them.

NF are 1/⁸ . fine cross hairs. I never have liked the dot. Sometimes The width of a crosshair adjustment is to hit an x or not.
I've got a weaver t36 fine crosshair also. It's great for 50yrds ARA.
