First world problems: loud Steel

So I've noticed the various steel plates I shoot in the yard have very different sound signatures... this is for subsonic supressed shooting..

The 3/8 in thick 8-in round plates ring really loud... and the two 7-in plates that are half inch thick, one is much quieter than the other.

Im wondering if that is the grade of steel... or if I can modify the loud ringing plates... drill some holes in the plate.... or tack weld some steel to the back of the plate.

Trying as much as possible to keep the noise down, so the neighbors (300 ft away).never hear it

Try hanging a sand bag on the back side of it.
Worth a try,nothing to lose.

4×6" sandbag with velcro attachment strap.

Get a couple of sheets of dynamat or an equivalent.
Clean the back side and roll on a 4"x4" square.
The key is to roll it on correctly. When done, they should be pretty dull sounding

Sounds very interesting.

Any wisdom for "rolling on correctly." ??

You could do the same thing with a thin sheet of rubber and some silicone if you have any laying around. If not Dynamite is the easy button.
