So I watch a lot of videos and I am way different than most but here goes. For a rifle I like to use a bore mop saturated with cleaner to get everything wet and soaking. Two choices being hoppies or mineral spirits. A mop is easily cleaned in mineral spirits and I use a bunch. It's the cheapest easiest way to clean. For pistols i soak the entire barrel and slide. Not very harsh on your hands and decent smell. To each their own.

Reasonable.
Whats a bore mop for, then?
Doesnt seem like they could be used without dirtying them.
They are great for holding grit, a little sand goes a long ways so go light with it at first...Do you just use a loose wet patch, or do you use a saturated bore mop ?
Whats a bore mop for? Just a gimmick? Or does it have a legit use ?
Thx.
Sounds like it would be a lot more difficult then just using a jag and a cleaning rodI use a piece of monofilament fishing line to pull a dry patch through my barrels first then pull a solvent saturated patch through and let it soak before pulling clean patches through.

If you can’t get into the breach end that definitely would make sense I see what you mean about tying it in a giant loop you can switch patches out pretty easily kind of like a bore snake but you get to discard the patchesActually not. I use 50#, cut it about 2 1/2X the barrel length, tie a knot on the loose ends and crease it in the very center. It feeds down the barrel with no issues. Pull it out of the receiver enough to fold the patch and pull it through the barrel. Pretty simple and fast. The only time I use a rod is if the rifle needs a brush ran through it.
I use the same line to clean my Feinwrekbau air rifles, there is no way to push a rod through the breech end.
@K9TXS .... for a 20" rifle barrel? How do you push one of those through the bore?
