First PRS build

I'm trying to get into PRS and want yalls opinion on what the best starting build and caliber would be for me to use. the guys who work at my local gunshop who all shot PRS recommended the RPR in 6.5 CM or the begara LRP in 6.5 CM for my first rifle. I know the 6mm and 6.5mm dominate the game so I know should be around there. I would like to keep the building around $300 at the max willing to go over a bit but nothing crazy and that does not include my glass either. Thanks in advance

I'm a 6.5mm fan, and for PRS would recommend a 260 if you have a longer magazine or a 6.5 creedmoor if restricted to 2.8". I'm going to get flamed a zillion times for saying so, but the extra fps in same barrel length I feel helps on those unknown range shots, and 6.5x47L just doesn't have the same boiler room as the others.

A 6mm can be flatter shooting, again improving those unknown distance shots, but a heavy 130-140gr 6.5s aren't too far behind.

So you would recommend just a a straight up 260? And so what would be a either good set up to build that on it a good starter rifle to buy?

PRS has a stock rifle division, and I think the limit for rifle and scope is $3000. The Ruger Precision Rifle continues to get excellent reviews and comes in 6.5 Creed. My friend Dan Newbery runs Bangsteel Longrange shooting and has seen quite a few, with good results. I was shooting with several PRS top pros and they are switching back from 6.0 to 6.5.

If $3000 is just for the rifle,I would look for a used AI MKIII in my opinion it can't get no better.

$300 ? That won't buy much of anything. I understand not having much to spend but you need to be real. a new barrel will be more than that.
