First Journey - 223 8" Twist

23.4 gr, WSRM, COAL 2.32. Shoots extremely well, I am using it on the 300 yard line at next match.

Listening to several people smarter than me, consensus fell between 23.2 and 23.5gr

Note: same load will work at magazine length in AR 15s. Work up as it is on the warm side.

Recently purchased a t3x tac 8 twist myself and get good results with 53vmax over rl10x, 60vmax over benchmark and 77smk over cfe223 all sub 0.5moa
Couldnt get 75amax, 75eldx or 80amax to work as well, 75s giving 3/4moa and the 80s over 1moa.

After some testing I discovered that the 60 Vmax and 60 Nosler BT work best in my rifle (223 Tikka 8" twist) with H4895. These bullets shot more consistent without flyers.

Both these bullets shot the tightest groups at about 2850 f/s. Both were seated .010" from lands. Average group size at 100 yards from bench was .721. For a factory rifle I'm satisfied with this. Plan to try it out this winter on some predators.

H4895 and 60gn NBT's are an excellent staple in my 9tw 223ai.

Well I finally gave in and bought the Tikka T3X in 223 which has an 8" twist. This is my first experience with a fast twist 223, all my current 223's have 12" twist.

I loaded up some test rounds with H4895 and 55 Nosler BT's which is the only bullet I had on hand. It shot ok (for me), five shots .957", four shots, .507". I think I pulled the fifth shot which expanded the group to .957.

This is my third Tikka, I have a 243 and 308. I plan on trying the 53 gain VMax since I've been told that this light weight bullet works well with fast twists. I prefer to develop a load with a lighter weight bullets that will work with this twist so I don't have to compensate for too much arc in the bullet path for hunting ghogs and predators. However the new 65 grain Sierra bullet look real interesting and I might give it a try.
IMR 4198 and 55 FB's are worth a try ie: Sierra Varminter 55

The 55gr sierra game king spbt is a very good bullet for factory tikka varmints. They just seem to work really well. Seen it in a few rifles. Mine likes 8208xbr and fgmm primers.
