Fireforming 220 Russian brass into 6PPC

What I'm trying to find out is, I remember reading a thread that you can blow out cases using a filler with pistol powder instead of actually firing a round in your chamber.
Thanks,
Dave T

I do use bullets, but I guess you could have a hydrolic die made or use cow method, I guess my best advice would be to contact BoydAllen here on this forum or on BR central, uses same name on both sites.

Hornady can make you a hydraulic form die. You will have to contact them about it, I don't think it is a catalog item. Good luck with your case forming.

The Cream of Wheat works with light charges of shotgun powder. I have blown out 06 cases to 338-06. I load 220 cases after necking up to 6mm with a full case charge (same powder but not as much) and a 6mm bullet and shoot them, they shoot very accurate.

Thought I'd add a bit to those whom may not know know there are a few companies that have been selling 6ppc brass already for normal case prep - no fireforming required. Many thought after Sako quit selling cases that was it. The one I will recommend is Norma. While I do love the Lapua and also use it, I love excellent cases ready to work with also.

Load the case with 18gr of 231. Push the neck into a block of paraffin. Fire.

Or you can load the case with 322 and seat a .22 bullet into the neck. Fire in 6PPC barrel.
