firearm for trapped copperheads

Ha, when my kids were little I killed every F'n snake in my yard with no mercy. < that's a period on the end!
My kids are protected too!
I'm not agin'it. I just wouldn't talk about it on the net. "People" are watching.o_O

To the op: After some more research about your home state of Texas, it seems you're ok to blast'em.

Use your snake tongs and a shovel. It's not a big deal if you use a little caution. Hell, I've dispatched more copperheads and cotton-mouths than I could count in my first 15 years of life. My Daisy Winchester Commemorative BB gun put down plenty of coppers, cottons, and water snakes with it's spring powered mechanism. You don't need much.

CCI mini shot and a pistol...it will not cycle a auto but then you have a captive audience and time to reload. I used them on duty for those "There is a big snake in my house" calls. Never wanted a 22 or 40 cal slug going poing around or thru a house, but the rat shot did a number at four-five feet. The wiggle and squirm, but who the heck cares,. shoot em all.

You made a good point and good a post to protect the OP and it's very much appreciated sir! We have several protected animals in my state and just killing them is prohibited out in the field.
My neighbor went through channels to obtained permission to kill the mountain lion that was eating his hunting dogs, I'm not sure I would have waited that long. lol We knew we had one down in the bottoms and he was seen way off but nobody realized it was a bad dude that was out for a easy meal. He left his tracks on a front porch a year earlier so we were glad to see him go.

Works good on all sorts of stuff. .. cornered rats in a basement, for instance...nice tight pattern at 10' w/ 4" barrel.

:):):);)
Well "theoretically speaking", if I had a lion threatening my household, I'd have a little bigger garden area tilled, without "asking".

There's your problem solver right there!!;)
In California, Rattle Snakes have a bag limit but one of our local Game Warden friends said "shoot every one you see".:D

Don't fall for that trap. One Warden says take em and another makes quota writing you up for breaking the law. These guys are not our friends.

Drown them. We used to set a minnow trap in a deep hole by a bridge that went to this guy's house. He stopped one day when we were pulling the trap. It had about 30 or more water snakes in it. Seemed they went in to catch the minnows and couldn't get out. He said he never knew there was that many snakes in the small Creek. He went and bought a minnow trap to get the snakes. Matt

Drown em.. Zactly. This is what I do to skunks..

Why not contact someone who milks snakes for anti-venom?
They will haul the snakes off and use them for better outcomes for folks who do get bitten.
