Firearm accident

My 'best' or 'worst' instance happened at my home range. It's a private club. The range is 100 yards. If you want to shoot at a shorter distance, you move the firing line down range towards the target holders.

One day I show up there is a group at 50 yards shooting various firearms.

I walk down to just to observe/be with the group. As I'm walking , one of the group turns around with their AK 47 with the muzzle pointing in my direction and proceeds to unload it by cycling the action.

Yes, we had words.

Any voids in the powder/bullet stack-up in a black powder barrel can be hazardous. Got to make sure everything is tamped down tight.

This problem has nothing to do with what pistol it is and its capabilities. It has everything to do with irresponsible and unsafe people using them. And our stupid society will reward them with a cash settlement from the manufacturer.

I was speaking about the mechanics. Yes, I agree that majority of firearm accidents are result of user error in form of carelessness, recklessness, and/or ignorance.

The classic reason to the leave the range around here. Warning! This may give you the hives.

Preclude: a guys goes to Cabela's to buy a firearm for "self - defense" but more likely spells doom i.e. self destruction. The guy has no prior experience with pistols. The sales person sells him a real "man stopper", a sub compact 45 ACP. Gives him a one minute course on how to load and fire the pistol.

The act: the guy shows up at the pistol range with a pistol and box of ammo - no targets, no shooting glasses, but he does has some foam ear plugs that it will not do much good under the roof of the pistol range where sound bounces around like a echo chamber but it's better than nothing - I guess. He loads the pistol but can get it to shoot and starts pointing it in all directions trying to figure it out. OH MY!!!

The escape: It's time for me to run away from the range like a "scalded dog"!
