There is a lot of really good information here and a lot of different options. Take a look on YouTube for survival fire starting.

One thing I highly recommend. A lot of these fire starting options that you can buy today are gimmicks that don't really work in real life conditions. When you do decide on method and materials, then go try it out. Make sure that it works as expected, many require tricks to make them work right and many may not work at all. Most importantly, when it comes down to life or death, you know how to use it.

I have purchased many different survival items over the years. Too many end up in the trash can. I carry an emergency pack in both cars and one on the boat.

Just went on a camping trip after heavy rain for weeks, I used the news paper plastic sleeve to keep wads of paper with saw dust inside and a bundle of pine kindling wrapped in paper nice and dry. We had enough flames to light up camp in less time than I just typed this.

I keep bees so I have spare beeswax. A paper towel coated in beeswax them rolled up tight like a straw makes a great starter for camp fires or anything.
