How much does your carry gun weigh?

Just curious as to how much your carry gun, the huff & puff, park and walk, whatever you call it/them weighs. You have to carry it, along with any other gear you may feel needed to hunt g hogs or whatever.

I have a Ruger American 223 with a 3-9/40mm scope, total weight is under 8#. The RAR has the standard sporter barrel, but I see lots of guns with the heavy barrels, etc., so just curious what you guys tote around.

I would say that most of my walking g hog guns are about 8-9 lbs with scope, bipod and sling. The guns I used to carry, cooper or savage, were a bit heavier. I do a lot of walking so weight matters. My cooper 38 classic in 221fb is almost like a toy and is very easy to tote around.

My RA weighs 14.8 pounds. So it is not my favorite walking gun anymore! Now I pack a 722 in 222 that weighs around 7 or 8 pounds. It is very light and fast handling and has the factory 26" barrel. You don't have to have a short barrel to get that.

I've not weighed them, but I have a pair.... one is a 223, the other a 7mm-08. Both are built on Rem M700 actions, with barrels slightly thinner than factory sporter contour, in Brown Precision "Pounder" stocks and wearing Leupold 2.5-8X scopes that have killed their fair share of groundhogs and deer.

I didn't go to extremes with fluting, skeletonizing, etc. I just screwed together pretty much factory available stuff into very effective hunting rifles.

A handful of shells in my pocket, maybe a bipod on the 223, and I'm "hunting light".

Contender carbine...likely 8 pounds with scope. My walk to the bench gun is 19 pounds...220 Swift

What about the gun in your "in the game now" thread ??

One is a little 222 on a 722 with a heavy but short #7 taper hart in 40XB stock. about 11 pounds, and I carry it

The other is an experimental Hart action (long sleeve like action) with a #7 hart at 28 inches, and it is in a 40X rimfire stock. I have not weighed it. No I do not carry it.

I will try to locate a photo of the PIG, my 220 Swift that I do carry (as evidenced by my unorthodox sling) and it is 19 pounds with a steel weaver T on it. I do not carry it far!

I built a ultra lite a few years back on a 700 sa in 223ai. With a scope, harris bipod, leather sling and 4 rnds it weighs in a just a couple oz. over 7lbs.
