By far my favorite piece of wood to work on, I wish I had a blank and knew what kind it was!!!
Looks good now but I'm gonna wet sand again and put it in the booth one more time for the hell of it!

It is Bubinga.

Another wood to add to my list! I'm headed to Hearne's soon to get some nice stuff. I'll see if I can find you a piece.:D Keep posting pics. I'm gonna "buy once, cry once"

Whats it weight? The bubinga I have worked with was quite heavy. Im sure theres variations in it though. I have always liked the look of it, but have never made a stock out of it due to its weight (Br). Looks sharp.

I have worked with Bubinga in the past and it is a fine wood to work. It doesn't split and tear and it takes a finish well.

Dang....that's nice.Thanks for the pics!

Edit;
Bubinga has a nice recoil absorption rate....easy on the eyes too.

Thats not too bad. I have balsa wood here that I have been working with to make an ultra light hunting stock. One block weights about 3 times more than the other.

I've tried making stocks with bubinga a couple of times. Weight was an issue with the wood that I had. Maybe laminate it with a lighter core wood. The stock that I made and have been using for long range the last few years is bocote sides with a maple core. I've always like the beauty of bubinga though.

Can you pm how much a sporting version of that stock would cost?? I would love to build a .223 in that with an interrupted fluted barrel like in your last build. That would be freaking awesome.
