Finally, Real Winter Weather! WE HA!

It was -53 deg. that afternoon.
During my 4 years on Shemya the temperature ranged from 18 to 60 deg. But on a plane swap at Clear AFB I did get to experience -52 deg. and that was actual air temp not wind chill. I don't want to repeat that ever again.

Hear in northeast Wisconsin it is -10 deg. outside as I type this and we are expecting a high of 1 deg. today.

Must be amazing to retire when you are 35 ish.
Bitter sweet Dave! I loved what I did, rigging heavy machinery and setting Iron. But a fall 42' head first ended that party! Three crushed disc, 7 fused vertebrae, 2 holes in one lung, and one in the other, with a crushed rotator, not the way I planned it!

Thank God for a pension and a great annuity, but today some 34 years later those pensions don't get cost living raises when there not government funded!

But I play the cards I'm dealt, like it er not, and have the best wife in the world, proof my God is good!

Yeah it's been just below zero here, centigrade. I haven't even looked around to see where my pacs are. No snow so far or even a lot of days with frost on the cars.

That frozen lake looks like a wonderful time to be had.

Jesus. That is incredible you lived from falling that far. I know the odds of surviving a fall over 40’ are about 50/50 (which I’m shocked they are that high). I can certainly relate to some of those injuries. I’ve had two neck fusions, torn rotator and labrum on both sides, and a massive skull fracture from a car accident. Good thing you made it and are now living a more relaxing life. Keep taking the photos and enjoying what Michigan has to offer.
Dave

High of 16 with low in the morning of 1*these are all fahrenheit, I'll be at the range by 9am and will shoot some after that, my guns work in the cold, maybee better than in that nasty muggy cheeeite!!

If I couldn't operate in this weather I'd do what the snow birds do around here, and get out. I just suck it uo and put my big girl pants on and enjoy this crisp clean healthy weather. But to be really healthy we need some real winter temps to freeze hard enough to kill some of the eggs are pest leave this time of year to invade those that love that sweltering sweat chit we are forced more today than ever to tolerate.

I honestly take this much better than above 90*, as do most that are honest, thats when they can't go south to evade it, and just set inside in the air conditioning when they don't have to work in it. I hear Hawaii is comfortable temps with minimal rain year round,,,, sounds freakin boring to me! Beside, then people would have to beech about things besides the weather,,,, ;)
