Finally Gave Up on my CZ 457 MTR

After 9 months competing in BR event using lot matched Midas+ in my CZ 457 MTR I decided to buy a
Tikka T1x and a Bergara B14R. Bought Jard triggers for both. After a week at the range I put the CZ up for sale.
I chose the B14R for today's USBR event. So far so good! Next week the Tikka goes to bat!

Same thing here , shot the 457 MTR this summer and learned you have to drive it to get it to shoot and it will shoot 2500 , but I bought a chasey rifle and will give it a try . then we'll see if it was the arrows and bow or the Indian !!! think I'll sell the wood gun !

I don’t know if you’re confined to totally factory guns, ( where if you take a sling stud off, you can’t plug the hole etc), but if not, I’d put a barrel on a CZ, just my opinion. But you said jard trigger, so? Who knows.

Tikka and Bergara, both have their little quirks, probably comes down to the luck of the barrel.

Tikka has firing pin and ejection design flaws, I hear….

Bergara has ejector staking situations, I hear.

A 457, in a chassis (mtr stock is for what?), with an aftermarket barrel, to me leaves it up to the “Indian”!

I know you had a burr or several in your throat on your mtr according to your borescope pics, might coulda been a problem?

To drive it means I had to hold it tight and not let it float on the rest like I do with my IR 50/50 and ARA unlimited rifles .
That is what I found with my MTR. I have to hold it tight and even push it up against the forearm stop on my front rest. I’m wondering if it is the stock design that tends to make it that way? I also have a CZ 527 MTR in .223 and it is the exact same way with that rifle. Noticeable difference in the group size if I hold it tight and against the stop compared to shooting it loose. I even went so far as to buying a standard factory varmint stock for the 527 and the rifle behaves much different shooting off the bench than the MTR stock.

Sold the CZ 457 MTR for $650 including rail. Cheap. Guy did buy another $200 in mags, etc.
He got a good shooting gun. I just had to know. Out tomorrow again with the B14r. Will advise
if I get the four 2,500s!
