Federal reloading bullets?

I like to think I know a lot about hand loading, but had no clue these were ever available from Federal. I came into three boxes of them cheap, two 140's and a 160 gr. I see none available from the usual sources. Who has tried them?

I tried some in 6.5 140s. I didn’t know they offered them either.
I bought some blems and just did some load work up with H4350 before a hunt.

...noticed only Alliant propellants listed.

Didn't know that - interesting.

Judging from the groups I have observed at the range of shooters shooting Federal Premium ammo, I would say it's worth trying especially since Sierra seems to have abandon reloaders. Nosler not as bad but still difficult to find some offerings.

PS: A fellow shooter last week was shooting a Savage Axis, out of the box except he replaced the trigger with a Timmey. I watched him shoot a 1/2 to 5/8", 5 shot group with a 6.5 Creedmoor using Federal factory ammo. Made we wonder why I spent hundreds of dollars on custom barrels. Made me wonder why I'm spending $50 for a pound of powder and $100 for a brick of primers WHEN I can find them.

You can buy bullets direct from Federal on their website. You will pay full retail for them, but if you really want them, if they got em they will sell them.

Federal website: https://www.federalpremium.com/ I was just on the site and they make you jump through several hoops to get free shipping, worse you can't get around that crap.

Except for a thick jacket there is nothing remarkable about it's construction. Does the below advertising statement really mean the entire jacket was applied by the electro-plating process?

  • Copper jacket is electro-chemically applied for perfect uniformity

I bought those too. Haven’t fired one yet.
I did some load work up I think I used data for a 142g working up to max load on it and at max with H4350 I got single digits sdv.
I was trying to duplicate factor 140 speeds as I was in a rush for a hunt and they grouped good enough for javalina
Keep in mind this was for rifle work up on your own

Federal has IP on this process via the parent company and Speer. Speer gold dots are made this way— the “jacket” is just really thick plating.

I bought some 185 grain Fusions to load for my 338-06.They shot ok,but nothing to get excited about. But I was shooting them in a barrelled action that wasn't properly bedded in a stock.I had just put the barrel(Shilen Select Match)on and I know for a fact that the bedding was nowhere close to right, but I wanted to make sure it didn't blow up before I put it in the stock it belongs in.I have it all done up except for the final work on the stock and the recoil pad(A good pad is very much needed, the whole thing's going to weigh right at 7 pounds scope and all when it's finished and I don't believe in muzzle brakes).
