I do not know where the cases were made, but I tested a 25 case batch of LC 223 REM (No Date). Upon firing after the 7th reload, I had a couple of split necks. Upon firing after the 8th reload, I had 4 or 5 more split necks, so I retired the cases. For this test, I full length resized the cases using a Hornady die followed with a Lyman M mandrel, and I fired the rounds in an AR-15.Zombie thread resurrection!
Hey guy/gals, I've been searching online all morning and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. Came across this old post and figured it was worth seeing if anyone here has come across this/these in the past two years.
I recently ordered several hundred "once fired" LC brass to feed the hungry appetite of my growing boys who really enjoy "plinking". Low and behold, it came in with a true LC 223 REM headstamp. I've never seen this before! I haven't processed any of it yet to compare to the normal "run of the mill" LC 5.56 but at first glance it looks identical. It has the same annealing color and crimped primer pockets and SCAMP index marks but there's no date.
Has anyone else seen these? I'm wondering if they are newer or quite possible a subcontracted run for a different brand of factory loaded munitions? Just curious
Dan
Edit: I forgot the mention that the OP (post #1) did not actually have LC 223 REM headstamp. He ended up having the "normal" LC that we are used to seeing. Mine is not that! It is LC 223 REM.
I've picked up about 200 pieces of this range brass. It has LC 223 and 2 slight dimples for a head stamp on it. I plan on weighing it out and probably prepping it out and loading it. My time is just that my time. Being retired and shooting and reloading is my hobby it's time well spent. Also Arms and Ally has LC once fired brass for sale.Zombie thread resurrection!
