FED -EX SHIPPING ---BROWNELLS

Received my latest Brownells Edge order yesterday via UPS 3 days from Iowa to CA. --Jerry

I think the service may vary greatly by region. On the ES of MD Fedex shipping can be worse than the kiss of death. We have drivers that lie about delivery attempts, dump pacakges in the bushes. The lying about signature deliveries requires a 90+ mile round trip to the Fedex stronghold with electric gates, buzz-in doors, razor wire and etc. UPS on the otherhand tries hard to deliver and will put packages in one of the vehicles to keep out of the weather. Very good customer service. One exception being a split shipment that had the label address off by a digit. One driver corrected the label and delivered. The second driver blew it off and returned the package to sender. Very easy to locate address on short rural road. USPS works because the drivers know us and like to stop by, so theyll go out of their way to deliver.
Im sure this can turn completely around in any other area. Drivers, supervisors, regional attitudes all ply a hand in this

I live less than 10 miles north of Louisville KY, on the Indiana side of the Ohio River. It takes less than 25 minutes to drive from my house to the massive UPS air hub.

Any time UPS delivers me a Ground package from points south, it drives right by my house going to Indianapolis, then right by my house going south to Clarksville, before being delivered...even when the package is simply coming from Louisville or Lexington.

FedEx Ground packages typically go to Cincinnati before coming south to me, regardless of where they come from...sometimes making a trip from Cincy to Indianapolis before coming south.

Frustrating to no end.

Logistics!

That's still better than the 5 (yes, five) days it took for a USPS Two-Day Priority Mail package to travel 65 miles from my house to an address west of me in Indiana.

UPDATE - Package was delivered on Wednesday (11-16-16) after 1300 miles of travel , remember I only live 115 miles from Grinnell, IOWA. It only took 10 days from the date I ordered to the day I received the order.
Was it delivered by Fed-X or USPS?

Just a note that you can specify your 'preferred' carrier...when ordering from Brownells. In the checkout process (Step #2 "Address & Shipping") - at the bottom there is a section called "Shipping Instructions". In the dropdown - select "Other (provide details below)". In the custom instructions box - type in your preferred shipper. No guarantee they will adhere to your preference - but it can't hurt to specify.

I type in "UPS please. No FEDEX." Since I've done that - (so far) all my packages have come UPS (whereas before they would come via FEDEX most of the time). UPS will still use USPS for the final leg of delivery for small packages - but the packages get here 3-4 days faster than having Fedex handoff to USPS.

FYI - YMMV

neighbor told me about some car parts he ordered and they shipped it "Fedex Ground Saver" which uses empty trucks going in your general direction or can sit a day, and can take a while. I bet that's what's going on with Fedex.

Fedex also offers normal ground service which is pretty much the same as UPS.
