FED -EX SHIPPING ---BROWNELLS

I placed an order (11-6-16) with Brownells-Sinclair in Grinnell, Iowa. I live only 115 miles from Grinnell. The package was shipped (11-9-16). Here is the routing according to FED-EX tracking. Grinnell,Ia to Ottumwa, Ia, from Ottumwa, Ia to Chicago, IL, from Chicago, Il to Lenexa,Ks, from Lenexa, Ks to Olathe, Ks and now I HOPE back to Iowa for a delivery date of (11-16-16). This does not make any sense and is the reason shipping is so HIGH. This package will have traveled approx. 1350 miles before it gets to me. Remember I only live 115 from the starting point. THANKS OBAMA, I am sure Trump will fix this!

I think it is all on FED/EX . Larry

Didn't even realize Brownell's used Fedex. All my shipments are UPS or UPS to USPS for final delivery. All these type businesses get a much lower rate than you and I so how far it has to go to get to you is not a concern for them. As a Brownell's Edge customer I get "free" shipping. I was skeptical at first but decided it would be a good thing since they have no minimum order requirement on it. Full parts to build a 1911 or one pack of cleaning packages and it's on the way. Usually gets here pretty quickly too.

My two cents: I DO NOT and WILL NOT patronize vendors that ship Fed-Ex. I get the impression they're a business oriented shipping company and would prefer to not deliver to residential addresses. Here on the east coast, they use private contractors and screw up at least 50% of the time. Recently my brother ordered a brick of rimfire ammo. Shipped fed ex, never got it. It was delivered to another town, another zip code with the same street name and number. Took another two weeks to finally get it.

Sinclair stated they shipped my most recent order made on 11/3/16 on 11/4/16. UPS Standard Shipping. It's now 11/11/16 PM and still no package. Someone at Sinclair needs to revaluate their shippers performance.

There IS no more Sinclair!

What's flavored as Sinclair is really Brownell's on the inside.

Sinclair is just another brand now.

I bought a lot from the Indiana-based, original Sinclair for the few years I knew about them before they got bought up. Stuff would literally arrive the next day 90% of the time if I got on the phone before 2 PM. 'Course they were only about 150 miles distant & Chicago was in between, which may have helped.

The two orders I bought after the sale both took four days to arrive; Grinnell was 260 miles away.

That ups to usps is sure slow. I guess they save on shipping while we wait...and wait...and "No I haven't received my package when promised". It happens all the time to me. Sometimes I think the local post just throws it in the pile to sort out last.

That's nothing. Mail a local letter here and it goes 180 miles to Salt Lake and back. We used to have a delivery center here but it was cut.. We have a PO that's all

I'll bet anything, that Fed-X passed off your shipment the great USPS and now is being delivered to by the US mail. I know this first hand as it has happened to me twice.

They move packages from hub to hub and take a certain amount off each time they land and in turn our packages go in circles. That way they don't send an almost empty plane to your hub to deliver a handful of packages. It is based on a computer program using zip codes for sorting at each facility it goes too. It sucks but it makes it cheaper for them and us so to speak.

I got a call from my company's buyer who said I had a Fed Ex package delivered. I said no I didn't. On his way to lunch he dropped it off and I nearly fell over. Four years before we broke a core pin in a plastic injection mold used to mold a part for a military item. The entire contract was delayed for this item. I found a gear making shop that could make the special pin and sent them a set of blanks.
The new pins never arrived and my job was immediately on the line. I made more pin blanks and shipped them to Chicago. This time they got back to me and were installed.
Four years later Fed Ex found the original package wedged into the gap between the wheel well in the back of the truck and the side of the box. I have never done business with them again.

I too opted for the 'Edge' program, for the same reasons you state. Before doing so I inquired as to whether I could control which shipper was used. I insist on using FedEx after coming home to a UPS shipped NightForce scope sitting on my front steps in the rain. In spite of the fact I asked for (and the shipping instructions concurred) a signature. Almost invariably with UPS my instructions (leave at backdoor/ leave in back of pick up truck, request signature, etc) are ignored. Most of the time, I ship to a nearby FedEx Office supply, for security reasons. When it's a USPS handoff, that's not an option. I generally won't buy from a concern where shipping UPS is the only option(shipping to a UPS Store costs an additional $5).

I also use edge and get excellent service. I did notice the last shipment came Fedex. I didn't pay attention to tracking info.

I don't like packages on my front porch. I used to have another business and received a lot of packages requiring signature. I would get home and have to drive to UPS or Fedex and sign for/pick up packages.

So I got a mailbox at mailboxes etc. UPS bought it and now it is a UPS store. Of course they accept mail from all shippers, sign for them, and keep them secure until I get there in the evening. What a great convenience. I couldn't do without it.

Same here. My last 3 orders from Brownells was over 8 days. Grinnell Ia. is 200 miles away. Shipments from Midsouth, 3 days.

I remember a few years ago a shipping service offered a service that was the ultimate slow but inexpensive shipping method. They would send it on trucks that had room and it might not go the shortest route and if a truck was full, it would sit for a night. In return a business got slightly lower rates. Pretty sure it was Fedex. Don't see it on their website now or remember what they called it. --Jerry
