Favorite 222 Rem. loads

I need to know where to start for good target loads in 222 Rem with 52-53 gr bullets.I'm shooting some club matches and one class is limited to sporter weight barrel/factory gun/any caliber. Figured the old classic 222 Rem would fill the bill and knew some of you guys would have some pretty good suggestions given the rounds track record at the bench. Many thanks in advance.

The reloading manuals are full of .222 loads. If you don't have a reloading manual, you need to get one. Get at least a couple.

ackman, yes the manuals are full of 222 loads. I thought some of these fellows with more experience than what I have with this round could shorten the research and testing involved in finding a good load. In my limited 40 years of experience of reloading I've blindly stumbled on to several loads in different calibers that shot well in avariety of rifles. It was one of these old faithful/benchmark loads I thought someone might suggest. You give sound advice concerning buying a loading manual and I'll get another as soon as one becomes available that isn't already in my collection of 30 or so.
Have a nice day,

Brute,

It really does not matter what my load, his load or the loads in the RMs say.

They are a starting point to use with you being the one to decide on a load that shoots best in your gun. Just a friendly opinion.

You have "40yrs of experience of reloading", a "collection of 30 or so" reloading manuals, and you're asking people for .222 target loads?????!!!!! Some posts just make you go hmmmmm???!!!

Try 14 gr Blue Dot.
It will not give a great a velocity or cycle an AR, but it will burn so clean, that it it gives the greatest accuracy on windless days.

This is not for beginners.
The powder can hang up in the powder measure making a light load followed by a heavy load. Pay attention.

like other members said 4198 is great choice for the 222 only problem i have notice its a little dirty powder, I use W 748 and 53grMK with stunning results 24+gr,well prepped brass

The loads i settled on in my Rem 40XBR 222 Rem was 52 grain Fowler and AA 2015. H322 works well as does N133. I don't have the actual powder charge available, but if you need it let me know.
