Farley on a Diet

If any of you guys are running Farleys, you might can use this info. I got tired of lifting that heavy rascal. All the weight is of course in that cast iron base. I punched a new base out on my water jet out of 1" aluminum. Dropped about 12 pounds. Well worth the effort to me.
I haven't decided yet to have it powder coated, dipped or just rattle can it . Here it is in the raw.
If anybody needs a cad file to have one cut, give me a shout. It should save a few bucks. Drawing time was about the same as cutting time.

Additional weight is usually the price we pay for stability. I do love the look of your aluminum base though, very well done.

New base for the Farley rest

I asked Travis @AlloyTargets if he could make me a base for my Farley out of aluminum. I was tired of fighting with the awkwardness of carrying this rest. This new base is perfect.

I'm only playing around with rimfire benchrest right now. So far so good. I would suspect it would fail miserably at F Class. I'm not so sure with a centerfire with real recoil. It does fine for my purposes. It only takes about 5 minutes to switch back if needed.
