Famous Quotes About Firearms

"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms, like law, discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance ofpower is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside. And while a single nation refuses to lay them down, it is proper that all should keep them up. Horrid mischief would ensue were one-half the world deprived of the use of them; for while avarice and ambition have a place in the heart of man, the weak will become a prey to the strong. The history of every age and nation establishes these truths, and facts need but little arguments when they prove themselves."
- Thomas Paine, "Thoughts on Defensive War" in Pennsylvania Magazine, July 1775

Excellent! Reminds me of this: "Ideas have consequences".

When full of pixie dust man can think all others are kind and thoughtful and have no malice of heart. And that is a stupid idea.

I'm so thankful for the famous quotes provided in the post above. Scrolling down the pages, I was able to figure out a lot of new phrases for myself. If you are engrossed with reading, I would strongly recommend to utilize this blog:

Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same! See? He doesn't pay any attention to me. [BANG!
You can't serve papers on a rat, baby sister. You either kill him or let him be.
John Wayne as Rooster Cogburn in True Grit

I heard one from Col. Cooper back when he was the last page of Guns and Ammo. It goes something like this, There aren't many problems in this world that can't be solved with a 30-06 and $600. I am not exactly sure what it means but my guess is that it has to do with a USMC sniper his wages for a month and a rifle, or the sniper and an airline ticket to where the problem is????
