Famous Quotes About Firearms

I love the smell of napalm in the morning..........smells like ....victory. Apocalypse Now.( sorry, I go blank on the actor. Robert Duvall?)
And let's not forget........"is that a pistol in your pocket or are you glad to see me" May West?

My alltime favorite, if it's not famous it should be: be careful drawing your service weapon. Three things can happen and two are bad.
1. the perp surrenders.
2. the perp does not surrender, in which case you have to shoot him; because you cannot reholster your weapon.
3. the perp not only does not surrender, but ends up taking your weapon, and shooting you with it.

Oh so many historical ones to choose from that touch on rights etc. so, I wont choose.
I will simply post one I like Eastwood did here. They are in abundance from old westerns to new.

I hope I get this right, I believe it was a few years ago when a female reporter was interviewing an Army General and it had to do with kids and teaching them gun safety and letting them shoot rifles. The reporter stated that the general was equipping them to be killers, He then replied well you have the equipment to be a hooker but your not are you.

“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.”
Jeff Cooper

From the movie Shane:

"A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that."

"a vote is like a rifle; it's usefulness much depends on the character of the user"

Teddy Roosevelt

"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."
- Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, December 20, 1787

"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms, like law, discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance ofpower is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside. And while a single nation refuses to lay them down, it is proper that all should keep them up. Horrid mischief would ensue were one-half the world deprived of the use of them; for while avarice and ambition have a place in the heart of man, the weak will become a prey to the strong. The history of every age and nation establishes these truths, and facts need but little arguments when they prove themselves."
- Thomas Paine, "Thoughts on Defensive War" in Pennsylvania Magazine, July 1775
