F Open vs FTR not much score difference anymore!

2023 F-Class Midrange Nationals:
FTR Champion: Keith Trapp 1176-87
FOPEN Champion: John Masek 1774-95

I believe this is the first time FTR has ever beat open in a national event. The conditions for the first two days of this even were far from easy. Last day was very calm.

With that said, the 1000-yard line is very different. When the wind blows a FTR gun/shooter will not keep up with an open gun/shooter. My FTR 600-yard speed at target is the same as my PRC 1000-yard speed at target. Same speed at targets but 400 yards separate them. The farther back FTR moves the more and more they give up. Also, Open guns shoot a lot more Xs typically.

I would love to see a FTR shooter beat open in a national event, however I don't think it would happen.

Big Congrats to Brad Sauve for coming damn close and also setting the new 1000 yard record with a 200-18x.

Read what I said again. I didn’t say it was easier to shoot F TR than F-Open, what I said was it was easier to consistently set up the rifle in F-TR than F-open. Some F open guys I shoot with will take the same load, in the same weather conditions, with the same equipment and shoot a 200-15X in the first match and then 40 minutes later fire a 191-2X. I attribute a lot of this to poor setup routine.
Ok sorry let me re phrase my response. After competing in both disciplines I don't believe that FTR is easier to set up or shoot.

Your response has been documented accordingly on my tally sheet.
