Look out F/Open The FTR Guy's are coming on Strong!!

WOW!! Another Weekend of awesome shooting! I sure hate I missed out, That's just how it goes sometimes.

There must be something in the water at Camp Butner! NSSC members seem to really be hot from coast to coast! Not only did James Crofts When The FTR National Championship, but he set a new Record at 1000yd of 150-11X. He was only out shot on the First day by Xs from F/Open shooter Mark Walker. James was shooting a Rifle Built by Ray Bowman of Precision Rifles and Tool!

Team X men Took the Sliver in the Team Match (FTR) at the Nationals and all Were shooting Rifles built by Ray Bowman at Precision Rifles and Tool!

Just this weekend Oct. 13-14 Phil Kelly JR Set a NEW RECORD IN FTR!!! 200-5X AT 1000YDS!! The first man to ever clean a target at 1000yds in FTR with a 308win!! Then takes the Gold and wins the NC. LR state Championship!! At Camp Butner! Phil also won the Mid Range NC. State Championship at Camp Butner in early Sept. Phil is shooting a rifle Built by Ray Bowman at Precision Rifles and Tool! Way to go Phil Awesome Job! Congrats! Very Impressive and well deserved! Congrats!!

In F/Open Norm Goelzer Took the Gold for the NC. LR State Championship and Ryan Eastman took the Bronze! Both shooting rifles built by Ray Bowman at Precision Rifles and tool! Congrats guys! Now if I can just get
Ryan Eastman over on the FTR side of the fence lol!

Back in 2008-2009 Charles Ballard was doing some awesome stuff with Precision Rifles and Tool's rifles in F/Open. Now it appears that Precision Rifles and Tool has got behind some FTR shooters and they have went straight to the TOP! Some of these guys I know fairly well, and I have to say the Manner that they conduct themselves is just as great as their shooting! You just can't ask for a better group of guys to shoot with or just have a cold beverage and shoot the bull with! Way to go guys! I enjoy hearing about your success as much as I enjoy shooting against you and with you!! I guess when you mix professional People with a professional Gunsmith like Ray Bowman.....It's just the Recipe for Champions!

I thought I would add after looking back over past records. It appears Phil Kelly JR. has figured out the Butner curse of unexplainable shots! Camp Butner is probably one of the hardest ranges to figure out! I mean we all know Jeff Rorer One of the World's best in FTR! Jeff shoots regularly at Butner. So that really does say something about "shooter" Phil Kelly JR!!

A few pics of the things going on in the FTR world! These guy's are not only some of the USA's best shooters! They are the friends of many that wish or dream to shoot beside the best there is!!! They simply are the Best!! These guy's don't just shoot good!! They take the time to help every new shooter trying to get involved to shoot better. Doesn't matter who you are they welcome you, teach you, and embrace you! Being a champion is great! But being a champion that helps others is just GREATNESS!! These guys are simply just over and beyond greatness! Congrats guys! You are the BEST Of THE BEST!!! All of you at NSSC!!!!!

Woo Hoo! Someone finally shot a clean at 1000!

Great shootin' Phil !!

There have been so many that have gotten close in the last yr. It was coming.

Very impressive. Shooting clean in a 20 shot match at 1000 is not easy in F-Open. It is a real achievement with a .308 on a bipod. Day 4 at Raton produced three (3) F-Open cleans in Match 9 and none in Match 10. There were some great X-counts but it is just too easy for one to sneak out into the 9 ring. I've shot clean in F-T/R Palma matches at 900, but never at 1000. The 1000 yard line is a ball breaker for .308. Good shooting.

Something about when you mix great equipment, driven individuals and stiff competition, it breeds astonishing results.

Congrats Phil and Norm, well deserved.

Ray Bowman and his stocks have had a good year. Not only in F-Class but in benchrest. There are 4 Precision Rifle and Tool Stocks in the top 10 equipment list at the 600 Yard IBS nationals. This is list that was dominated by Shehane for the past 10 years. Another cool thing that happened this year is the 3 light guns that broke the 2 inch mark at 1000 Yard benchrest 2 of them were shooting Ray's 5 inch wide Hammerhead stock.
One group shot by Barry Ramsey in WV measured 1.5" and Ron Boyd in MO measured 1.4"

Way to go Ray. Keep up the great work

I know James croft is a really good shot, but he did have really god pit service from an open guy! ME, can't take any credit, but I have had pullers you couldn't shoot a good score with if you tried. Lets all pull em fast!

Bob, Good to see this subject come up. Pit service can make or brake a good string anytime. Congtratulations for your part in this clean F/TR 1st...
