F Open Class Front Rest Options

Have any of you tried this rest? If so what are your opinions or thoughts. It looks like it could benefit from having some big round feet added but I haven't seen one in person.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions!

I looked at the same rest a while back. I already had the Caldwell BR. I wasn't happy with all the slop that it had, so I decided not to go with the Fire Control rest.

I ended up going with a Farley.

I don't know that I have seen anyone use one of these at the comps I have been to.

I agree with KT. Most of the competitors use either a Farley or SEB. I use a Farley but the SEB Neo looks pretty good. Either one would be a good choice.

Joe,

Just another opinion, (like bungies, we all got em ;) ).

Dependent on your cashflow or allowance, the SEB/Farley are high end rests and not everybody can afford one, but they are quality & you get what you pay for. On the other hand, with the Caldwell/battenfield, you get what you pay for ;) .

A good option, especially if your just getting into F-Class, is to find a used traditional 3-legged Hart/Sinclair/Bald Eagle and you cant go wrong with those. Plenty of them being used on the line. With all due respect to SleepyGator, I think these older rests still out number the high end jobbies on the line, at least up here in the Remote Northern Plains.. ;D

You can find them for 175-200$ Saw two the other day on the FS/WTB forum go almost right away for that price. Then when you can swing a SEB or Farley, you can turn around and sell the "Hart Style" rest for what you paid for it.

Just another option.

I've been using the fire-control for a few seasons now. I haven't tried an expensive rest because I havent' seen the need; it does the job. I did modify the rest top, and put the Sinclair top on so I can use a real 3" bag. Some rests are 500 dollars more than the fire-control, but with a little tweeking it does the same thing (hold your rifle).

Rod is probably right about this. Since last October, I've only shot long range F-Open in the 29 Palms Regional, Arizona State Palma Championship and the Berger Nationals. I'll start shooting club matches again this month and regain my perspective. ;)

I wasn't trying to say that those other rest were junk, I just think that the Farley or the NEO are very high quality. Plus the they are a joystick style rest.

Another option you can look at is the Shadetree Rest that butch sells. I have heard alot of good things about them. I have seen several of these on the lines.

Hi Joe,

I have some F-Class feet I use on this rest also.

Guys, thanks for all the great thoughts. As chance would have it, this came up when I was browsing last night and after researching what was said here in regards to makers and looking at their sites I decided it looked like it was a nice deal and would work well to get me started and probably for a long time in the future (which is a nice feeling). Talked to rinoray and he has been great to deal with, answering all my questions and such, hopefully he left a few good targets in this rest for me to shoot:

Soooo....it should be on the way as soon as my money gets to him! Dang, this site is going to be the ruin of me, first Bernosky, now this! LOL! Perhaps I need some help. Do you guys have a 12 step program here or anything? I'm gonna have to spend a lot more time at the bench working if this keeps up! HA!

Great grab on the rest from RinoRay! Yes it will serve you very well and it's already pimped out for ya, turn key!

12 Stepping here? Heck yeah, coming here to this site is part of my daily recovery!! ;)

You are gonna to have a blast this year Joe, guaranteed!!
