Eyepiece focus range, not enough!

I am haveing difficulties focusing my scope. It is a Nightforce NSX 3,5x15x50mm. My nearssightedness is only on my right eye after injury.

This somehow bothers me moslty in lowlight conditions. I did as stated setting the focus on a 100m scopetesting target and was unable to conpensate for my nearsightedness.

Is there some way around this problem, "glasses are a nogo". Any smart gadget that might work?

Friend, sounds to me like you need to see an eye doctor. And try to find one familar with the challenges that shooting represents for your situation.

To expect a riflescope to overcome a severe myopia condition is unrealistic. Eyepieces and focus rings are for fine tuning. They're not meant as a replacement for properly corrected vision.

Thanks Nate. My myopea is that small it does not justify glasses. Why this is so frustrateing to me, is that there is so little missing. I have quite a few other riflescopes, binos and spotters that I can focus to compensate from the myopia but not the NSX. A fifth or a sixth of a turn would do it.

Anyways, thanks.

This is one nice thing about some of the European scopes that have up to a + 2.5/-2.5 diopter. I have a -1.75 prescription and even with the Zeiss rangefinder I can focus it perfectly without glasses.

Apart from switching scopes I suggest you just get prescription shooting eyewear. You ARE wearing protective eyewear Right??

The other option is to get a contact lens. The thin ones are relatively inexpensive now and after a couple days you won't notice it at all. Don't freak out when you think of contact lenses. I know some motorcyclists who wear zero-value contacts just to have an extra bit of protection against dust and bugs.

Obviously those motorcyclist do not ride in June bug country, about like getting hit with a marble out of a slingshot.

Well, umm... :-X

But I solved this. I now have a a custom acryllic lens that corrects for my myopia which was turned and ground to fit in the eye-bell flip-up lens cover.

I am know ready for the 300 meter tournament on december 31st.
