Equipment at F class Natls and World.

I see some people have asked what equipment has done well at Raton. Well Kelbly actions took both FTR and F Open at the Nationals. March Scopes had a good shoot with no problems reported. I am not sure what won the Worlds. I am shocked that I have to bring up the fact on this message board that the new NF 15-55 was a problem and as I was told at least 20 of them had reliabitlity problems. Why has no one talked about this yet. I really felt that there was a big push by NF to do well with the new scope and felt when the 20 scopes had reliability problems and had to be switched out to other scopes that this would be a big topic on this board. As a fairly good sponsor of these two matches held at Raton, I am quite proud of the way Kelbly products and March Scopes have done. We pride ourselves on building and bringing you the best products that you as a shooter require. I would like to see a equipment list from F class matches. With out equipment lists, it is hard for us to want to sponsor these matches when we can put our donations into shooting sports that recognize us manufacturers. Beside you the shooters deserve to know what equipment is winning these matches so you can buy the equipment that is winning or finishing well in these matches. I do a equipment list for the Super Shoot, takes me a whole two hours to write the top twenty in both classes. It is a great tool for both shooter and manufacturer. I spent with donations and traveling to the match over $4000.00 and a weeks loss of office work and am getting nothing from the NRA or organizers for my time and products. I will continue to support you the shooters, you are what makes Kelbly's. THANK YOU

Jim

Great post. The various competitors and the entire shooting community needs to know what the winners and top shooters were/are using. While it probably is not possible to list equipment of all competitors (nearly 400) at least the top 20-25 should be given.

Perhaps if someone with good computer skills would volunteer to compile a equipment list we can make this happen. I am sure several will be glad to send the info to a collection point.

(caliber)(action)(barrel/twist)(gunsmith)(stock)(stocker)(scope)(powder/weight)(bullet/weight)(primer)(case)

The Australian F Open team ended up using 7mm SAUM, 284 Win and 284 Shehanes.
Bullets used were 180gn VLDs and 180 Hybrids.
Scopes were a mixture of March (5-50 and 10-60), Nightforce BR 12-42 and Sightron 10-60x.
Powders used were mainly H4350 with one or two using H4831sc.
Actions used were Barnards, Kelblys and a Maddco.
Due to trigger/bolt and a possible scope failure, 2 of us ended up borrowing and swapping guns with other team members.

R Davies....Hi wayy down under!!!....thank you for the input and you shooting efforts here in America,,,,my big questions is "which scopes failed"???? just curious,,,,was it turret/adjustment problems or did the crosshairs just fall out on the ground,,hahaa,,,Its a shame that the NRA gives no recognition to the vendors/manufactures that keep the American (and world wide ) shooters in the winners circle,,,these events/competitors/supliers deserve more than a casual 'yawn".....it shows the lack of respect for F-class events and shooters,,,,,Roger

Best I don't say which scope failed until I confirm it with another scope (it wasn't a NightForce). It didn't do anything wild or drastic, just the impact wondering around, which was reduced when I stopped adjusting the scope and held instead.

I came in 31st at world with a 452v31 and I shot the below rifle built by me.
284 win 180 smk lapua brass h4350 at 2825 fps federal lrp.
Barnard p action
30inch krieger 1.25 straight 9 twist barrel
Master class stock- left hand thumbhole
Nightforce comp 15-55 with nf ultralight rings
Farley rest and edgewood bages

I was wondering when the NF comp "Issues" were going to come up. I was thinking the owners might be verifying the problem in calm conditions before making it public.
The conditions in Raton were changing fast, but the one I was shooting by that the owner said went "north" out of the blue I don't think was wind change.

I shoot an old NXS 12-42 and have never had any problem with it. I plan to continue to use it for some time.
My next scope will be a March 10-60.

Now if Jim want to put me on "Team Kelby" I can see me with a new Rifle and March scope soon :^)

Thanks for all the support from the sponsors, especially the ones that made the trip out.

Funny I put a thread up few months back asking about equipment lists for F class and felt like I got shunned for asking such a thing. Pretty funny. Apparently some think if they tell others what equipment they use that others will beat them ::) :-X

Yet BR have lists and pretty friendly when you ask about equipment and such. Guess some Fclass shooters are stuck up

More due to the older discipline than that. They have had time to build their system and we are just now starting to see the value of it. As our numbers build we will consider record keeping and other options.

Pretty simple if that's the format you want to use! Just need DATA for the values in () from the shooters involved!

Interested competitors can PM me the info & I'll do the layout to PDF fornat file.

Thank you sir, perhaps rests should be added to it as well.

I did not meet anyone that would not tell you what caliber the were shooting. Most everyone was very friendly and helpful. There was the odd old guy here and there that was not friendly to us "New Guys", but otherwise everyone was great.

SEB and Farley rest were the majority. I did see at least a few dozen of the new Sinclair Comp rest( some were modified like mine with longer legs)

7/300 WSM, 300 WSM, 7 RSAUM, 7 Shehane, 284 Win, seem to me to be the dominate calibers.

LOTS of different stocks, many were homemade.

My 6.5x47L held its own until the wind got up and switchy in the afternoons.
I shot 1- 150-9 at 1k, also a 149 and a 148.
2-150's at 800.

Example : 284win, REM, BART 9, KLOEPPEL, MCMILLAN fclass, Self, NF - 42X, 4831sc/55.8, Berg/180HYBR, cci, lap, Farley, Edgewood.
