It could of been 50 billion, and FB wouldn't of blinked an eye.Facebook got fined Five BILLION Dollars by the FTC for selling your information. Wonder WTF the FTC is going to waste the 5 Billion on.
We had a similar experience maybe eight years ago when checks for bills were stolen out of the mailbox. Wife and I went to Home Depot and our check was declinedI had to clear up my credit up after having an order of personal checks stolen out of the mail system. Took 3 years for the collection letters to stop arriving, and the required paperwork to respond to each and every letter or phone call. I had a 3 inch binder full of letters and documents, this from 24 checks that were used totaling $8,000 loss that the bank covered. At $25 per hour, I'd have made a bundle, but got nothing for my efforts as this was 20 years ago. Id theft is no small issue, and if not handled properly can cost you everything, or at least a lot of lawyer fees to clear it up afterward.
A couple of years ago I was standing in a field over a deer I'd just shot when my bank called to ask if I was on the phone with them requesting $500 emergency cash. Obviously it was fraud, but long after the taste of that deer was a faded memory, the memory of that phone call is still fresh.
Form boss says this is a scam.
They ask for name, address, and birthday which is hardly "getting your info". That's basically public record and allows them to look you up to verify if you are actually one of the affected people in the class action. If they didnt get your info the first time they have another chance
I agree. If the class action is opt-out, then no one should have to do anything. They should be mailing everyone a check, unless you file for additional compensation.I was mainly making a joke- i dont think its a scam. But the way i see it, if my info got compromised then they should give me the money. It seems fishy to want my info to check to see if my info was stolen.
Some of you may have seen in the news that Equifax reached a settlement for their unprecedented data breach some time back. It's time for all those put at risk to claim their settlement.
Thanks for this 250.00 The wife and I were both effected, so checks are being requested.
You misread it. If your info was exposed, they will pay. If you incurred additional expenses, they will pay more. The way I read the stuff, you have to have incurred time or expense BECAUSE of the Equifax breach -- not just have been "put at risk."
How did you determine that you and "the wife" incurred time or expense BECAUSE of the Equifax breach?
