Ending the question of how many record shots were fired

Since this topic has flared back up, I have a question. @Rochelle Jerry said that my 600 yd target below is obviously 10 shots. Like I listed earlier, I put 10 shots in my ammo block, counted 10 shots as I fired, and the puller counted 10 splashes.

However, which hole is the double? I am pretty sure I know but I'd like to see what others think.

Could be that 10 at 3:eek:'clock. Then again look closely at the number of holes showing a large center opening and offset petals.

Bullet yaw.

The 10 at 1'o'clock, the X in the center and maybe others are NOT clearly cut. Remember that bullet is spinning, wobbling, and falling down at that long range. This is why we are experimenting with some form of backer.

1:00 ten ring line double buy the pic I see. I would like to have the target in hand and take a picture of the questionable hole and expand that pic as much as possible to help determine. I like my fellow shooters to much to rule wrong and this is why I’m asking for a better way

Targets are determined but pictures are not. I would be, as everyone else, guessing to tell from a picture.
BTW, a test (if this is) is only a test if the one giving the test knows the actual-factual answer. It appears from your post that you do not know that answer.

Thanks for the test. I’m a rookie and inexperienced at this game and there are many other rookies in the ranks. As mentioned earlier there should be a class (that I’ll gladly attend to learn more on the subject) to help get us newbies up to speed on what to look for in a questionable target. Y’all seasoned marksmen have the knowledge and experience. I’m just looking to be a better judge when my time comes.

If I was using a reticle, my guess is the one at 5:00 o’clock as it appears to be a tad oblong

Yeh, that’s a good way to have someone say.......”you’re not sticking anything in my target”.
Aside from a moving backer system, a scoring reticle is the next best thing.

Kind of tuff with the size of the targets and the spacing between them at 600 yds..... jim

If it is yawing or wobbling at 600 you won't need to worry about doubles..... jim

2:45 on the edge of the X. No question.

Most Long range guys aren’t very good at spotting doubles.

No dog in this fight, but the 10 at 5 o'clock is vertically oblong with wide tears down and right, unlike any other shot. There is a breach in the petal concentricity at 2:45 and 8:45 resembling a figure eight. The bottom right petal looks like the give-away.

There are guys working on this problem in the background, it does not involve shot markers or backers. It may not happen , but it is definitely on several minds. If this does happen, it will solve the 4 shot deal, but the best part of it , it will stop the 6 shot as well, I have personally watched that abused, several times.
1. It needs to be affordable and easily used.
Most ranges operate on a shoestring budget as it is.
2. This bashing of volunteer referee help, or long range this short range that is not helping.
3.this is not as big a problem as some would think, kinda a covid knee jerk reaction.

4. I have ran alot of matches, I have seen guys shoot 4 and think they shot 5.
I have watched them shoot 6. It happens
10 on one target way more than you would think.

I was going to stay off this thread, but at some point, when a person has been told how stupid this set of shooters are vs this set, it gets under the skin.

Keep it real, keep it fun
