Eliseo tube gun recoil lug

I've read that some people aren't using the recoil lug in the Eliseo's if they are gluing the action in. I am planning on gluing the action in but am wanting some for info on whether or not to use the recoil lug. Anyone got some input? The heaviest cartridge will be like a .308.

I have glued several of these in the tube, and kept the recoil lug in place. Why not? If you have the lug and barrel torqued in place when you glue it, it will always be there.

If you don't use the Elesio recoil lug how do you attach the front tube, they are integral to each other.

The front tube slips over the action tube and is held in place by screws.

Every Elesio lug I've had measured exactly the same. Plus, and a big plus, is he chamfers one side of the ID, which is very smart. If you don't pay attention when turning a tenon and your tool has a slight radius, that radius can cause problems at the shoulder if you don't address it. The chamfer helps there.

I've never done a tube gun before so I have to ask some possible dumb questions on it. Can I just pin the recoil lug in to the receiver?

I did one a long time ago and they flat hammer without gluing them…… I made all the stuff to shoot off the bags, and i shot off a bipod ….. jim

Jim, I like switching barrels a good bit. Do you see any issue with that on this chasis. I'm building this to shoot groundhogs and also some informal local competitions as well.

No, rear entry wrench, and removed the fore arm tube to clean things up very simple. If you glue it's the same deal……… jim
