Ejection Problem

Had a 6BR chambered on a Rem 700 Short action,243 cal). After firing, when I pull the bolt back, the brass will not clear the ejection port. The case pulls from the barrel OK, but as it moves back, the neck clears the chamber at the same time the plunger becomes fully extended...so the empty, just drops back into the magazine. Is there a 'fix'?

260rem,

Cut the slot in the ejector longer, to let it extend out more, even beyond the bolt if needed. The ejector is running out of travel and the extractor is loosing it's grip.

Yes, I'm sure that is what is happening. Is there an internal stop on the plunger to keep it from comming out all the way?

I had a problem like this with my 700 in a Eliseo R5 kit.
I had a Sako extractor installed. It throws them out now.

btw the Sako extractor really does not do well with hot loads. A blown primer will cause it to disassemble.
