E-Targets for F-Class

For a manufacturer, especially of a sole product or small line, how many units have been sold is fairly proprietary information. Similar to asking someone their profit margin or income. Companies don’t tend to volunteer stats unless they are out in front.

Wanting to know whether other customers get a better deal is natural but the expensive end of most product lines is a tenuous niche and deals might have to be cut in slow times that don’t have anything to do with favoritism.

In all truth Adam wasn’t the first.

He did manage to get word of his Shot Marker system out literally days before Silver Mountain Targets announced their SOLO product’s availability, and at a slight discount to what SMT sells theirs for.

SMT’s been around for awhile, developing the technology and making open-mic systems available to both interested clubs as well as individuals users.

spclark,

I truly hope both SMT Solo and Shotmarkers continue to Thrive.
Hell I even hope HEX stays in business. ( If Rick can stop bashing the competition :) )

Thank You,
George

A big shout out to this post. When the regulating body told us 5 years ago they were leaving qualifications "up to the vendors", it invoked the remembrance of a game of horse shoes.

We highly second that motion.

So in light of the maturing of E-Target understanding, the questions that beg answering Earl are: 1) did you just coincidently get more World Class shooters there for that match, 2) were environmental conditions perfect so wind and mirage were not a factor, 3) what circumstance was prevalent to add a higher than usual number or records set? Which pattern seemed to follow in other matches.
Many of the records were set because the sport was very new and it had been the largest attendance that the f-class had at a national championships. That being said we also experienced some very good conditions of weather. I also belive that the scores are higher at some e target events because the target marking conditions are equal for all competors and now one has to suffer with a slow target puller. also you can rest between relays in stead pulling and they are not all equal in the ease in which they are pulled. Those things conturbite to higher scores. That is my opioin and mine only

I would like to say one thing about the various systems I think that the SMT system is a very good system. I have personaly shot a fair number of groups on clean targets and went to the pits and comparied the groups on the targets to the computer and have not found enough difference to make any difference with the score. One must figure how many shots hit the lines. I many years ago over heard someone telling how he lost the match because he did not touch the line and a wise old gentleman said if you had shot a little better you would have won practice a bit more and you wont be shooting the lines

...he asked me not to publicly divulge the cost as it was "special pricing".

I plan to keep my word to him on that.

You're a good man George. So you have, effectively, a non-disclosure agreement with HEXTA based on a handshake, your word, and personal integrity.

Yep, simple as that.
I still have the electronic copies of all the quotes and emails but I will never post.

IMO, Rick should do that on his own

Almost there. Wonder if the match in Houston this weekend has the delay or not, which as I recall was the original question here.

this might do it

Open systems are cheap, portable and pretty good. Closed systems will be more precise, are generally more expensive and aren't all that portable. The design of a closed system makes much of the suitability arguments for a national or international system moot but struggles to be adopted due to price. There will be ranges/days/conditions that the winner is determined by the system used. I doubt that we will ever know when.
A delay should be mandatory and a standard agreed on. Any complexities that come from implementing that delay I'm sure can be resolved, its just a matter of working with the vendor. A delay is inherent in the sport (and never been questioned other than the consistency with manual marking) and to lose that and make it just about an "even playing field" and the winners and losers on the day is the wrong approach.

IMO the only reason no delay is being discussed is because of a vendor time frame to deliver to market. If the system came with a delay day one we would never even have had this discussion.

What happens when significant % of clubs or national systems are in bed with one vendor and the vendor can't deliver anymore for whatever reason. I guess someone will step in and take over?
