E target question

Ok, quickly found the info. This discipline is clearly well removed from formal high-power / F Class style of shooting.

Depends on who you ask. Some consider it the *primary* form of formal High Power Rifle competition, and the rest of us are just effete dilettantes  while we consider them dinosaurs waiting for a meteor.:p

(And yes, that's a bit of good-natured pot-stirring, before anyone gets their panties in a wad)

FWIW, the majority of the US NRA "High Power Rifle" rule book deals with the Ina-and-outs of what we term "conventional" HP Rifle - which is basically identical to the CMP style events, but with sighters. One could make a legitimate argument that dedicated Prone events, and definitely later F-class, are the off-shoots. At least on this side of the pond.

Any particular reason you didn't just reboot the device? Probably would have been *way* faster...
There were so many open windows it just wouldn't respond until i got a bunch of them closed first (don't know why). You probably know that shutting down doesn't clear the cache, which was enormous as well.
In the end it was also about showing the user how to close windows and clear cache on a somewhat more regular basis, on his own. After that, he did fine with his own tablet. If you teach a man to fish...

F Class is something different from Highpower.

Things you need to be able to use ShotMarker:

  1. Know how to connect your device to a specific wifi network.
  2. Know how to open your web browser.
  3. Know how to enter an IP address into the address bar of your web browser. *NOT* the search bar of your home page, but the *address* bar of the browser itself.
There's more nuances and edge cases to deal with when/if they come up, but that's the broad strokes.

You'd be shocked at how many people don't know how to do either step #1 or #3. Some are a little shaky on step #2, even.
Some of us more “ senior “ folks get real lost, real fast with this stuff. I mean, you have to have a user name and password to go to the bathroom practically!

The windows are not autoclosing??????
Did you ask Heathcliff if he forgot to breathe?

Danny

Once upon a time, a shooter at our range had trouble with his tablet.

I closed, literally, over 200 open browser windows...
It took over an hour to clear the cache after that.

BUT -that is why match directors get paid the big bucks -to help people out, and help them enjoy the match.

I had to do this during this weekends match. Guy couldn't get shotmarker to run. I was scoring so I gave him my tablet and proceeded to start closing tabs on his browser. After about 2-3 minutes, I gave his cellphone back to him and started using my phone to score as he continued to use my tablet.

ShotMarker is a great system. Our club (Alliance Rifle Club, Malvern, Ohio) uses them exclusively.

Make sure the target & mic’s are secure and not flopping around in the wind, as the system may not register the hit. We use a target carrier system so we make sure the target + mic’s + carrier are not ‘flopping’ to and fro.

For iPad/iPhone Safari browser users, the open browser tabs can all be closed in one shot by:
settings —> Safari —> Clear history and website data —> close all tabs option

I can't handle the difficult parts. I need someone to tell me when to lay down and start jerking on the trigger and when to sit up and start writing. The easy moron level parts I can handle:

1) Building Service Rifles
2) Reloading for rifles, to include Service Rifles, and out to 1000 yards
3) Shooting Service Rifles out to 1000 yards

dinosaurs waiting for a meteor, ha, but its close to the truth. fewer and fewer sling shooters, were getting old and cant get down anymore, and not many juniors around here. I built a F-class/bench rifle and have been playing with it for the day when I cant shoot a sling anymore.
I like the old HP game, some call sighters cheaters. Shooting leg matches on E-targets around here has not happened yet, but at Camp Perry the guy at the awards hinted that it may be coming.
here's how I understand f-class got started. Compared to conventional HP, F-class is a fairly new game.
The beginning of F-Class shooting can be traced back to Canadian shooter George Farquharson, who developed the concept in the 1990s as a way to continue competing in long-range shooting even after his eyesight declined, allowing him to use telescopic sights and rests on his rifle, which is where the "F" in F-Class originates from; essentially, it was a way to adapt the sport for older shooters with visual and physical limitations.

older shooters with visual and physical limitations.

I resemble that!

I have showed up at Atterbury every year since the move. I have had, a laptop, a kindle and a cell phone, first an android then an Apple. I have no problem connecting etc, but I have a difficult time getting the screen to show what I need big enough for me to read! They then hand me their loner tablet and it seems to do what I need? Was planning on taking them(the two guys from target company) a case of suds this year but now it will be at Lodi? When asked when I was going to quite shooting(yea I'm not the greatest!) my reply was always "when I can't do my job pulling targets". If there was a classification for pit pullers I would have been a "High Master".

Frank

hahahah, I have the official "pit pig" t shirt also!
I'm LOVING my shot marker, was at the range this morning, shot 150 rounds with sling and rest. the only problem with it is how easy it is to shoot up a lot of ammo.
all shots registered, only went to the pits twice.
Didn't want to disturb the skunk that fell into the pit
