Ok, quickly found the info. This discipline is clearly well removed from formal high-power / F Class style of shooting.
There were so many open windows it just wouldn't respond until i got a bunch of them closed first (don't know why). You probably know that shutting down doesn't clear the cache, which was enormous as well.Any particular reason you didn't just reboot the device? Probably would have been *way* faster...
F Class is something different from Highpower.Depends on who you ask. Some consider it the *primary* form of formal High Power Rifle competition, and the rest of us are just effete dilettanteswhile we consider them dinosaurs waiting for a meteor.
(And yes, that's a bit of good-natured pot-stirring, before anyone gets their panties in a wad)
FWIW, the majority of the US NRA "High Power Rifle" rule book deals with the Ina-and-outs of what we term "conventional" HP Rifle - which is basically identical to the CMP style events, but with sighters. One could make a legitimate argument that dedicated Prone events, and definitely later F-class, are the off-shoots. At least on this side of the pond.
Some of us more “ senior “ folks get real lost, real fast with this stuff. I mean, you have to have a user name and password to go to the bathroom practically!Things you need to be able to use ShotMarker:
There's more nuances and edge cases to deal with when/if they come up, but that's the broad strokes.
- Know how to connect your device to a specific wifi network.
- Know how to open your web browser.
- Know how to enter an IP address into the address bar of your web browser. *NOT* the search bar of your home page, but the *address* bar of the browser itself.
You'd be shocked at how many people don't know how to do either step #1 or #3. Some are a little shaky on step #2, even.
The windows are not autoclosing??????There were so many open windows it just wouldn't respond until i got a bunch of them closed first (don't know why). You probably know that shutting down doesn't clear the cache, which was enormous as well.
In the end it was also about showing the user how to close windows and clear cache on a somewhat more regular basis, on his own. After that, he did fine with his own tablet. If you teach a man to fish...
I had to do this during this weekends match. Guy couldn't get shotmarker to run. I was scoring so I gave him my tablet and proceeded to start closing tabs on his browser. After about 2-3 minutes, I gave his cellphone back to him and started using my phone to score as he continued to use my tablet.Once upon a time, a shooter at our range had trouble with his tablet.
I closed, literally, over 200 open browser windows...
It took over an hour to clear the cache after that.
BUT -that is why match directors get paid the big bucks -to help people out, and help them enjoy the match.
