Dumb A$$ of the week

So while loading up some rounds today(I only got 28 loaded and 8 more sized) the light glinted off my whidden click adjust FL bushing sizing die just right and i saw for the first time 6.5×47L. This would be great if my rifle was chambered for the lapua cartridge. It just so happens to be 6.5 Creedmoor. So i shot a mid range competition with ammo sized for the wrong chamber, and really didnt do terrible. I have struggled to get consistent speeds though and im weighting charges to the .01 gr. Amazing how i still managed to shoot a 8" 22 shot group at 500 yard with the wrong die.

So i feel really stupid right now.

Midway sucks on their replacement department. I might have my dies in time to find a load for my next comp a 3x1000 on sept 22nd.

Ugh....

Lol from what i see length is longer on creed shoulder angle is 60 degree on oth but lapua is smaller diameter at shoulder base and bottom of neck.

Midway is replacing it just prbably take 2 to 3 weeks. They wont just ship me a corrext sizing die and let me send back the one that was wrong. I have to send in the complete set then after they recieve it and get around to it they will send me a replacement set.

LOL.. Don't know if I would have told on myself. Did you order the wrong die or Midway send you the wrong die?? Could have been a lot worse though. If they sent the wrong die then you didn't tell on yourself then.

They sent the 2 die set with correct bullet seating die but wrong sizing die. I still should have noticed.

I know right... i have thought about turning my .243 win ruger American sporter hunting rifle into a 6.5×47L comp rifle.

Just stop. You've already made enough mistakes for one week. Lol ;)

In all serousness tho, you're lucky you got away safe in that situation and I'm glad you're ok. There's been people killed or badly hurt from accidentally using the wrong ammo.

Talked to someone at whidden today before i called midway. He said they have recieved back a lot of mixed sets but only from midway. They said i would have to go through midway. I honestly think they would take care of it if midway wouldnt.

Kinda thought he might help since you needed a turnaround a bit faster than Larry's gang offered.

Let's think about this for a minute. How much were you pushing the shoulder back? If you were running the die jammed down on the shell holder, you were pushing the shoulder back about .080" too much?

If that is the case, I'd think you should throw the brass away that has been sized in that die. Nothing good comes from excessive stretching at the head-body junction.
