Dumb A$$ of the week

Let's think about this for a minute. How much were you pushing the shoulder back? If you were running the die jammed down on the shell holder, you were pushing the shoulder back about .080" too much?

If that is the case, I'd think you should throw the brass away that has been sized in that die. Nothing good comes from excessive stretching at the head-body junction.
I never pushed the shoulder back more than .002 from a fired round. Except the first piece i ever sized. Should have been when i figured out it was the wrong die.

Before stones get tossed at midway. Keep in mind they don’t manufacture the dies, nor do they package them. Their receiving department processes a metric ton of lines a day. And when taking returns, it is standard protocol to reclaim inventory before shipping new product. Think of how many people would ask for something new and never return the old one. It’s a bad break, unfortunate no doubt. But I see lots of complaints about industry vendors from folks that have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

Well, not to sure about that. I'm working with someone now who said that Midway repackages all their products and buy it in bulk. So maybe and maybe not.

Sure on brass, bulk bullets, etc. I highly doubt they are on dies and other finished goods. Doesn’t make sense, adds in excess cost and increases dock to stock time considerably.

Can you imagine getting a huge box of loose dies and a crate of plastic boxes and a roll of whidden labels then putting them all in the boxes as they get ordered?

I’ve seen companies due worse in my career, but not by much. It would be one massive Charlie Foxtrot. Returns are a tricky subject as all vendors have different policies. People can say what they want, but When you list the good and the bad about Midway (and most others) one far outweighs the other. If it didn’t, they wouldn’t be in business. The entire shooting industry is based on discretionary income. People want it, they don’t need it. So if you make doing business difficult or too costly, they go elsewhere. I’ll get off my soap box now, just chaps my ass to see the shots at good vendors and good people.

Companies make mistakes- no doubt about that. Its how they handle it that makes the difference

just a thought, buy a new die from midway and get it here fast. go ahead and send them the wrong die you have, have it pre-understood what is going on (they make notes on your account) and when they get your die they credit your credit card back what you paid for the correct die. BAM!! you have the correct die in time for the match and you just tied your money up for a few weeks ( still get it all back in the end, which is what matters). or maybe not, depends :)

Talked to someone at whidden today before i called midway. He said they have recieved back a lot of mixed sets but only from midway. They said i would have to go through midway. I honestly think they would take care of it if midway wouldnt.
If I understand you correctly, Larry/Midway is ordering both sets then mixing them up and shipping them out. Did they come in a sealed box from Whidden? I am sure Midway will take care of it as quickly as possible, I have had prompt service from them.

I was about to mention the same thing. Or order it from somewhere else that has faster shipping while initiating the return through Midway.

Midway shipping is what really chaps my ass, that smart post is crap. I have watched many items sit 20 min from my house for 2 and 3 days. Personally i can ship something usps ground cheaper than ups smart post.

Seems some people missed the point of this topic, i wasnt aiming to run down midway. I was stating the fact that im a dumbass that never read what was on his die before already loading 170 rounds. I am irritated i may not have it in time, but in the long run no matter who packaged it wrong i should have read it before using it.

Midway is replacing it just prbably take 2 to 3 weeks. They wont just ship me a corrext sizing die and let me send back the one that was wrong. I have to send in the complete set then after they recieve it and get around to it they will send me a replacement set.

If it was their mistake, then their policy really sucks and I'd likely be raising HELL. Maybe talking to Larry P would help.

Everyone makes mistakes amazing you shot so well , so it was their screw up at first sending you the wrong dies , you couldn't wait to load up some rounds with your new dies without looking at the box . I also am precise with my reloads , after loading up a full tray of exact loads , bringing the case across the tray to the press I noticed some grains of powder on the tray . Would of been nice if l primed them first , even seated a few . Talk about a A H moment . I think I said curse words no one ever heard of . 6.5 CM is a nice round , good luck with it , I'm a 308 guy but giving the 6.5 CM a hard look .

The sane solution!

I looked at the box it was marked right. So was the seating die. Just the wrong sizing die.
