Drop Tube Static Problem

dixieppc

In search of one small hole...
I ordered and received a 3/16 ID 10" Harrell Drop Tube from Sinclair (749-000-416, page 81 in Sinclair 14B). Before using it, I wiped it down with an anti-static sheet and even pushed a small patch of the anti-static sheet down the inside with a thin coat hanger. However, this did no good. Powder is still clinging to the inside of the tube for its full 10" length. Having no problem with my original 4" Harrell Drop Tube.

Any alternative drop tube anti-static fixes besides the sheets?

Thanks in Advance........

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Tried the graphite solution first since it was the first suggestion and that worked just fine. No more static problems.

Best Regards......

I am not familiar with that drop tube....is it plastic?
If so I would make an effort to replace it with a metallic one if possible. Static electricity is difficult to prevent given the correct temperatures, humidity, etc., and plastic is quite a good insulator.

The Sinclair drop tubes for Harrells are some kind of plastic. I've never had a static problem with them. Not sure I would want anything in the interior other than graphite.

I Mix up a good heavy solution of Dawn dish soap, and wash ALL my plastic items used around powder,
funnels, drop tubes scale pans etc, and then let the items dry over night with the Dawn residue on them.

Do not wipe or clean off Dawn soap, after washing.

It stops the static cling for me here in NV.

YMMV,

Tia,
Don
