Drop in trigger for AR15

He will use it for plinking, informal target shooting and home defense. He insist it must be 100% drop in. I think that means he wants it to be adjusted from the factory and he will not be required to adjust it.
I own CMC, Elftmann, Rise Armament, and Triggertech triggers in AR platforms. I have been happy with them all, but I will keep buying Elftmann. The Elftmann 3 gun is my go-to trigger until something as good and cheaper comes along. Rise Armament makes agood, solid, truly drop in trigger for under $100, but I like the crisp reset of the Elftmann closely followed by the TriggerTech.

Realistically, ANY trigger is better than factory for most AR's under $1500. I have also converted all but one of my AR's to a straight trigger - for me it is more user-friendly and predictable.

Forgot to mention the LaRue MBT 2 stage , total weight 4.5 lbs. First stage 2.5 second stage 2 they were going for $250. at one time , once they dropped the price to $89. delivered , it's a steal for a great trigger.

I bought 3 Larues for $75 each. They are crisp and average 3.75# pull right out of the box.

Thanks everyone for responding. I gave them several choices and they can do research on the ones you have given me.

The American Gold triggers that I have installed have served their owners well. The most recent triggers that I have been tinkering with are from Midwest Industries. One of those may well have been the best single stage units that I have ever fondled. Super clean, minimal overtravel and very short reset. The last 2 I installed were not quote as clean, but very good nonetheless.

I have several different kinds of "cartridge" type drop in triggers.

The AR Gold is by far the best.

Triggertech is also excellent.

If you want something cheap and great, look at the Velocity Classic. They have a little creep. Wouldn't be my first choice for a precision target rifle but I use them in "everything else"

For just plinking, hard to beat the LaRue MBT. It is my go to aftermarket trigger for the AR platform. Use the factory trigger parts for fishing weights.

I have Geissele SSAs (not SSA -E) in two of my rifles, and I can honestly say I cannot tell the difference between them and my two rifles with Larue MBT2s. If anything, the Larues are a bit lighter, 3.75#, and almost a THIRD of the price. Given Larue's reputation for quality, the feel of the trigger, and the price, FOR $80 I'm going with Larues in my next two builds. (If Larue needs me for an ad or commercial, I AM available!) They can just pay me in triggers! LOL

I know these are great value but I haven’t tried yet. Most likely I would try the LaRue if I ever built another AR. I’ve got the bolt action sickness now.

Exactly I plus however many in line I am at recommending a Geissele. Op mentioned drop in wgich would be easier. I was a little apprehensive on my first AR trigger. If I can get a standard style trigger in, any one can and I fully recommend a Geissele. I actually received one that that had too much creep on the 2nd stage. They asked for a few close up pics and sent me a new one. Great customer service.
